Well this is disconcerting, right in my backyard, two nights in a row, multiple drones appeared in the night and stayed in the air for over an hour at the Palo Verde power plant. They appeared to be military grade.

I read another article about this incident that said they were going to install a drone detection system, that apparently can locate the point of launch. I’m really surprised this didn’t make more of a news headline, seems pretty serious to me.
I can’t believe there isn’t some sort of technology that could knock down drones, some sort of directed energy beam, like high intensity radar. It is restricted airspace they should be in their right to shoot it down.
That reminds me of the time I was driving towards Luke AFB, I noticed this small single engine plane just buzzing along and I could see if he didn’t turn he was goin to go right over the base. I thought to myself he’s gotta be some rookie pilot. Sure enough I watched him fly right over the fence line, then about a second later he did a hard 180 and poured on the coals and beat it out of there! :laugh2: I was laughing and wandering if they didn’t threaten to shoot him down.

Used to go flying with a bit of a mad sod who took a delight in shaving the boundaries of the red-marked squares on the nav charts.
