Howdy, I am going to put a new front tire on my '72 XS650. I intend to put on a Dunlop K70 tire. My question is this... the tire comes in two sizes either a 3.25-19 or 3.50-19. I believe the stock size is 3.50-19. Is there any problem with going with the narrower 3.25-19? Thanks in advance.

The Clymer book calls for a 3.50-19. In my factory book the front tire size is a 3.25-19. It mentions it's a K70 too.
As ToMany mentioned the 3.25 will fit easier. The 3.50 will be wider and taller. It may be enough rub on things.
What size is on there?

The smaller tire will turn in faster, making you a little quicker in the turns if you care about such things. Also, I'd be inclined to go with what the factory book says, as Leo pointed out.

I bought the bike last fall. It came with a Shimko 100/90-19. It also came with an Italian rim minus one spoke. I have since acquired a used rim/wheel off a stock XS2.

In most tire makes and models 100/90-19 is as close as you can get. I'm running with that size on my bikes. XS speedometers are accurate with it. 3.25-19 has very limited offerings. Consider yourself lucky your favorite tire is offered in that size.

Will a 4.00x19 fit? I have an 81 and loooks like it might.

Probably find it understeers a bit. I had a 4.00 x 19 on my GS and it was like that. I got used to it, but was glad when it finally wore out. I'd bought two of them as a bundle and gave the unused second one to a sidecarist.

My 75 currently has a Cheng Shin 4.0-19 on it with good clearance. It’s a shit tire but it fits ok.
