Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

He emailed me back, it's 120v/single phase and weighs in at an estimated 750 pounds. It has a drawbar collet with extra collets in the cabinet under the mill. I'm waiting to hear when I can go look at it.

Surveyed the Groj, I can shoe-horn it in if I move some stuff around and get rid of my Crapsman drill press. If the deal works out, I'll probably give that to my grandson.

Well, poop. I found some dimensions online and the Clausing is virtually the same size as the Grizzly 704 I already have. Actually smaller in a couple of areas. I'm looking for something more toward the Bridgeport end of the scale.

Well, seeing as I passed on the Clausing, I went shopping for some smaller stuff I've needed for a while.

A set of 10" (9.75, actually) SWAG Offroad press plates for my 30 ton hydraulic press. That smarted more than a bit, but I've already broke a pair of cheesy cast Chinesium plates and ya gets what ya pays for.

That and some HSS thread cutting bits for the big lathe scratched my spending itch for a while.

Another passamundo. WAY bigger than I gathered from the pictures, no way it would fit in my garage.

Had it been more suitable size-wise, I'd have had to dicker some, it needs some fairly serious love. Ferinstance, some bozo took a pipe wrench to the quill on the Bridgeport head...

I'll keep looking.

Sigh...

Looks to be the right size, but too far away.

I googled Burke-Powermatic-Millrite and they have several models that look like they'd work, not seeing any for sale anywhere in the ME/NH/MA area.

I finally got to try out the hobart plasma cutter. Took less than 10 minutes to remove a trailer jack with it. That included a couple minutes figuring out the safety switch. It would have been a much longer job to grind off the welds

Had a millrite MV1 show up bout 90 miles away for $450 about a month ago, too bad I already have one, was tempted anyways.

There is (or was) an Index on Facebook Marketplace, but I decline to get involved in FB and you have to have their app to contact sellers. It was in Sea(something) on that little corner between Maine and Mass, looong ride.

I should stay off of Amazon. I've been resisting getting a buffer, Ran across this one and weakened. Price was right.

It got here this morning. Took it for a test drive. I don't know much about buffers. It seems to work just fine. No vibration, doesn't try to walk around. I do need more practice. Got a lot to learn
