Guys, I have 80mm pistons, rings & pins. These are brand new in the box. I would like to use these. All I need is jugs or sleeve my old jugs. I seen Heiden tuning sells 80mm jugs for $400 euros. With the exchange rate and shipping, I was wondering if I could do better? Time I buy sleeves and have my old jugs machined....just wondering what's the best, most frugal route to take. Today's best option. I know, I know, "search forums". I did but it was a long winding road that was dated. Most a better part of a decade ago. Any input would be appreciated. I have a 81' 447 motor to rebuild this round.

Even if you get the 750 jugs you would still need to have them machined (bored and honed) to match your pistons. Depending on shipping costs that probably covers the difference in machining costs to have your jugs bored for new sleeves. So that basically leaves the cost of the sleeves vs. the cost of the jugs. Now if you were talking about the set that is already matched it would be a no brainer for me as long as shipping wasn't too high. If I had the cash I probably would get a 750 kit myself at the current exchange ($766.19 usd).

Don't get me wrong, I really like the big fins and I will probably build another 750/rephrase one of these days. Hopefully mikes has them or the exchange rate is good at that time.

being a tight arse, me that is........do a costing, i haven't done it but off the top of my head i think this would be cheaper

400eur = $471.00us + postage, $60.00us, (guestamate on the low side i think). $531.00us + boring of the cases for liners and boring if the bores to match pistons.............don't say if you have gaskets for big bore kit so that is an extra $62.00us, (mikesXS)...........

$600.00 + the boring of cases and liners......What would that b, another $200

I would buy Mikes Big bore kit..$660.00.
Buy a full gasket set for $35.00......cruzinimage, can also get them off Fleasebay

$690.00

Still have a set of barrels that can be sold $ ??............or buy a set of pistons from cruzinimage, ($80.00us + $20us postage), get the barrels bored, ($100us, guestermate), to suit, and sell the barrels and pistons as a kit and make a couple of dollars........Potentual to make $100 on the kit

The question on those ebay barrels........MikesXS has the barrels bored to the pistons........will the pistons in hand match the barrels or have to be bored again..??...

I know it's just a small typo, but I've seen a lot of stuff from Mike'sXS (and their partners) that appears to have been spit up.

I`d say "Risk" is the key word.:yikes: I saw this the first day it came out and my first thought was why did this guy remove it in the first place? It`s going to need new gaskets, clips and probably rings? When It`s all said and done your getting close to new price. I do like the big cylinders though. It`s been on eBait for a while and no one`s jumped on it yet. Myself I would be a buyer somewhere around $250. That would cover new pistons, rings, clips, gaskets and over bore. Just my:twocents:.

He did reply to a message. (Heiden tuning setup) Said the bike was running and had about 1500 miles on it when the transmission took a dump. Time I get those cylinders honed again...where is the tolerance? I agree, not far off from a new setup. Now the Mikes XS jugs on fleabay for $399, I started at $250. Haha. We must think somewhat alike. Went up to $300 and now I can't bid anymore. Guess you can only bid so many times.
