What have you done to your XS today?

burned in some HHB braces - not quitting my day job any time soon. TIG is hard.

Not done yet, I think I need supervision.

TIG is hard.
The key to any welding is practice. Don't practice on the good stuff. I struggle with my MIG because I use it infrequently. There was a time I TIGed stainless on a daily basis. Now I would have to practice in order to carry an arc with a TIG.

Replaced the battery I swiped from Madness to get Zall down the road. Then took Madness out to clear her pipes. Good thing I had noticed the county boy sitting off the road a bit earlier while in the car.
You may have seen this before but it works pretty slick, clip a couple angled pieces off the overflow tube for a nut holder.

That’s a great hack. Thx

Yeah that would be a real back saver! Looks nice!
Need to get used to pushing it up on the stand. Need to be careful not to tip it too far away from me when bringing the back tire up the ramp. Practice I guess. Will also need to bolt the front chock to the platform.

I rode my bike today, that's what I did. I took off the skeeter net, pulled off the cover and rolled her back and onto the center stand. I turned on the gas hit the choke and it lit on the third kick. Flicked off the choke and held the throttle about 1500 for warm up. I worked the clutch a couple of times cause I hate the hard CLUNK as it goes in gear. Ok, "CLUNK" and it died. Had my foot on the brake to keep the wheel from spinning. I kick it.. it sputters. kick it some more, and some more. Nothing. Ok, I'll come back in a minute and goes to get my jacket, helmet and nose pickers. I walk back out. and instantly I see the problem. Gas is OFF! :shootme: Somebody put the bike away with the gas on! Then somebody rolled the bike back turned off the gas and fired it up! Then were wondering why it won't go! :umm: Turned on the gas and waited a few seconds and it fired right up. 40 mile round robin and it was a perfect ride! :bike: But why does it only happen to me?

Hey @Machine, I wish you could come here and kick my a$$ into gear on these projects! Tomorrow, I start on garage reorganization. I can’t see the forest through the trees. Four XS650s and three XS1100s and only one bike running. I envy those of you getting it done and I want to be more like you. In my defense, I have been very busy doing what my employer pays me to do. Lucky me!
Working full time does that! But, if I had that many bikes, I wouldn't know where to start. You should give one to me. Yuk, yuk, yuk!

It only gets worse! And what is worse is when you're riding and beginning to run out of gas, and you turn the gas off instead of on! Doh!

For you stock XS guys with 19 fronts and 18 rears. I just bought a set of Dunlop D404's, from Dennis Kirk, for $151 total with shipping. 100/90-19, 25.8" inflated diameter, 3.9" wide. 120/90-18, 26.4" inflated and 4.7"wide. Haven't ever tried them, but they were out of my usual Avon Road Riders and AM54's.
All of the 120/90's I've ever purchased, the Avon Roadrider, the widest, had about an 1/8th to spare on each side.

404's ,If that's the K70 gold seals, I'm running them and I think Mailman is too. I like em'.

I swapped out my original 1975 voltage regulator and rectifier for a vr115 and a Amazon rectifier that seems like overkill (time will tell) tomorrow evening I'm going to build a nice mount for them and maybe spend some more time chasing my voltage drop... Pictures to follow once they're mounted!
