what would you say if I told you that I'm thinking of a Yamaha Bolt as my second ride... the one I ride while working on my XS that is :)

Edit: performance wise don't need any more than my XS anyway lol

Depends.

Are you comfortable with the cruiser riding position - feet forward, back bent, knees and hips bent at acute angles?

Are you okay with totally vanilla performance?

Daughter had one. I'm 6 feet and 200 pounds it was painful for me to ride and the performance was a total snooze-fest.

It DID look nice and it was totally reliable and adequate transportation, it just didn't have any soul I could find.

The foot controls are mid forward-ish aren't they. For performance the xs was always fine for me as I just like putzing about in the country :)

Well, as long as you're comfortable with the riding position, you'd likely be happy with the Bolt. It does have a healthy amount of low-end torque and would be well-suited to just putting around. Here in the States, you can pick one up for a song, don't know about Eastern Europe.

Basically, it's a Sportster copy, and performance-wise, an 883 Sportster is nothing to write home about. A buddy of mine bought a new one years ago and let me take it for a spin. I wasn't impressed AT ALL with the performance. When he asked me what I thought, I told him it reminded me of the 350 Honda I had in high school. He didn't like that, lol.

Depends on what you wanna do. Keep it stock? If not consider this: Fuel injection mean tuning/ mapping for exhaust changes. Fuel injection means ECU and that means a battery has to stay a certain voltage or it won't start. Belt drive limits a lot of custom ideas later without literally re inventing the wheel. Cheap enough but a used one should be really affordable. 8k new means 2k used in ten years. Lol Nice looking tho. The only modern bike that has caught my attention is the Ural. Still has a kickstarter. Boy they want real money for those! Haha

I don’t mind the look other than the oversized muffler. I think Vance and Hines has a good looking replacement. In addition to the XS maybe but not to replace it. Wouldn’t mind taking one fir a spin.

ahhh RE... Royal Enfield :) as i am looking at them i find myself considering it. any idea what the aftermarket parts availablilty are? i know i could google for them but that will only tell me for sure how much crap there is :) just while i am not really looking for something hi performance i would like to make it a bit my own without too much difficulty :) last thing though... i do need it to at least go normal highway speed comfortably for short distances

really got me thinking now, i could enjoy my putzing about the countryside and almost buy it outrite at those prices :) cheers guys!

Yes, they will make highway speed, but that is not what it is designed for. Corbin will soon have a seat. There are already plenty of mufflers and richening the fuel has been made simple. Aftermarket steel fenders (or stainless) are available too. Stuff will come to market if the RE becomes successful. Meanwhile, parts for our beloved XS650 will go the way of the dodo bird as the numbers of bikes dwindle.

RE aftermarket: S&S offers performance upgrades. Also check out TEC Bike Parts. They are developing quite a few RE goodies too. They have a lot of YouTube videos available.

Prices being equal, I'd probably go home with the Triumph. It's more bang for the buck, not that anything is wrong with the RE.

Question i would be asking between the Triumph and RE is.........Why is the Triumph price so close to the RE. new the Triumph is almost double the price of the RE. Even a second hand Triumph, a year older than the Re should be a lot more.........
