Question i would be asking between the Triumph and RE is.........Why is the Triumph price so close to the RE. new the Triumph is almost double the price of the RE. Even a second hand Triumph, a year older than the Re should be a lot more.........
True. At the price you might assume something wrong with the Triumph. Also, there's the Lithuanian market, which I won't pretend to know anything about.

Basically, it's a Sportster copy, and performance-wise, an 883 Sportster is nothing to write home about. A buddy of mine bought a new one years ago and let me take it for a spin. I wasn't impressed AT ALL with the performance. When he asked me what I thought, I told him it reminded me of the 350 Honda I had in high school. He didn't like that, lol.
that’s hilarious! harley guys can be a bit sensitive, the 350 Honda comparison would have gone down a treat, when the RE 650 first came out I was a bit like meh,, but all the review I’ve read seem quite positive, RE bought Harris engineering of Harris Magnum fame, so they even have frames designed by Harris, probably why all the reports are especially favourable about the handling.

I didn't mean there was necessarily something wrong with it.............for me as a buyer, it raises questions ...........+ 1 on the market in Lithuania.........
.

I have to admit I like the 883 Sportster, especially with mid controls. The reason I like it is because it puts a huge grin on my face while riding it. It’s also fairly comfortable for my tall frame. I don’t have or need another reason.
That said, I’d like to try the Bolt. The C Spec looks cool as anything to me. I understand the pegs touch early is the only real complaint. Scrambler also looks like fun.

i agree 650 skull, i have asked the seller to provide a missing picture for me from the rear straight on from down low before i drive to take a look.... no answer back so far. and regarding the lithuanian market... basically, as i interpret what i have seen, this is where vehicles usually get sold on to at the end of their lives, this is a place where you can drive around and see 100s of these tiny side by side garages with cars that have been bought from elsewhere to be fixed as far as the eye can see and be sold on so yea.... must be careful here. in my mind i wreckon the bike has been rear ended but im an optimist until i find out, otherwise i would just stop looking lol and i've asked for VIN to see if anythign obvious like an old auction add with any details comes up,

Funny you mention harley riders, my sister has a harley custom sporty and calls the triumph an IRON PIG. with her what? 562lbs... and then her bike weighs :D

You know, now i find myself stuck looking at the speed twin, this always escalates so quickly, yesterday i had myself talked into an RE being just fine. Weight wise there does not seem to be too much extra than the XS on the speed twin, seat height is not terribly high (im about 5foot 7... ish) , now just need to find one to try on for size, nearest dealer is a 4 hour drive in latvia dammit... guess i need to offer the wife a shopping trip to Riga.

hey suxelp, I spent a bit of time in the baltic states in the late 90s, it sounds like not much has changed as far as cars go, a lot of cars used to come out of Russia then, they were either Russian ones like Ladas and Moskvich, I can’t remember the other brands, the rest were European brands mostly BMW or Mercedes, apparently a lot of those were stolen in Europe, smuggled to Russia then “reborn” and sold in the Eastern European market, what’s it like there now? the Russian mafia were everywhere back then.

Hi there stinky78, I would say that the blatentness of the criminal activity on that level has subsided. Probably refocused in the newer business world that usually emerges after that sort of change converting some of that cash. The open bribery was already subsiding when I moved here 8 years ago and keeps on the decrease with upcoming generations. I do suspect the sale of stolen goods but probably getting a bit harder for them with newer eu regs. That old saying don't trust em as far as I can throw them... yea, that applies here!

I still know some Estonian people and they say it’s a lot better than it was, I always wanted to buy one of those Russian army 4x4s when I was there, I think they’re called a UAZ, they were quite cheap at the time.

Well, I found the street twin i was looking at. Apparently it was in a crash in new York. One thought I had is that it was better for owner to have it written off at which point I assume you can only scrap it or export it. Then it got auctioned and ended up here, other thought is that it is beyond what I would to pay to repair. Not sure I can fully assess that. He says it runs so could have a ride... what else to look for though? Any advice? Here is the auction site https://bid.cars/ru/lot/0-28101155/2018-TriumphMotorcycle-StreetTwin-SMTD31GN2JT869233
