in about 1983 I was riding my newly acquired Z1B Kawasaki down a scenic backroad with little farmlets and apple orchards enjoying the late springtime weather and seeing what the bike could do, I was wearing a full face and brando jacket that was half unzipped cause of the lovely weather, one of those big black and yellow wasps hit me in the throat just below the adam’s apple and just about chocked me,(try flicking yourself there and you’ll know what I mean) I don’t know what they are called but they’re dark brown and yellowy orange and about 1.5” long, you sometimes see them dragging large spiders that they’ve killed around, anyway it fell down inside my jacket under which I was only wearing a wifebeater and started buzzing around my armpit, by now I was hard on the brakes and I finally stopped in the middle of the road and was trying to unzip my jacket with gloved hands, finally got the zip undone when it flew down my sleeve, I ripped off my gloves and unzipped the sleeve at the cuff and held it open and it flew out and away into the countryside, tough buggers! I was doing about 140kph and it just flew away, made a good story at the pub that night, but yeah I’d be keeping my jacket zipped up too with those things flying around.
