I have a question:

As crafty and creative as we all are, howcum we ain't all rich?

Or am I the only one? :p
There's not much money in making crafty stuff or working for a living. There never has been. Big money comes from big ideas and risk. Maybe your grandpa told you that.

Fortunately, human beings are driven to create. Imagine a world without music. Money isn't really that important when you get right down to it. Unless you have none.

Yup. I do stuff cuz it makes ME happy. If someone else enjoys it, that's a bonus.

Many years ago, I worked in IT for the local school system. Good money (for the area) but it was eating me alive. After a while, I realized that I was working my ass off at a job I hated so I could afford toys that I had no time to use.

Just up and quit with no job lined up. Couple of weeks later, hired on part time as a mechanic/general dogsbody at an equipment rental place for half the money and life got exponentially better almost immediately.

@resto Filter housings and dist cap are awesome ideas for pedal housings. Nice work! Are those kits, or you printing and etching boards, piecing components together, etc?
No kits, just perf board and schematics that you can find on the Net.
Nice part is that you can usually clone an expensive pedal ($100-$200) for as little as $15 in parts. Of course, the real ones sound a bit better, but you learn something in the process.
I've actually gotten to use some transistors that I've had in my junk box for over 50 years.

Very nice!! Kit or plans?
Man, that is some high level detail there! Outstanding work! Did you get the castings from a kit? I've often toyed with the idea of model steam engines quite a bit, but those kinda pricey and that cuts into the motorcycle budget.

My talents don't go as far as creating this from scratch, it is a Finney 7 kit which aren't cheap but everything fits and the instructions are good.
If you work out how much it costs per hour it takes ti build then the price becomes far more reasonable (in my mind at least).
If they are built to a good standard then they are also worth a fair bit more than they cost but if that day comes I'll already be kicking up the daisies.

Back in April during the big lockdown I decided to make salami so bought some skins. Unfortunately the temperature was too high so delayed this until the beginning of October:

Salami 1 day after mixing and stuffing.

Salami 1 month later.

The natural mold from the air is covering the salami nicely. It was originally patchy so I brushed both to spread the spores all over. These will be ready for tasting at the end of November. Hopefully both are inhabited by nice friendly bacteria, better hoard some more TP just in case :umm:.

Salami Update from Entry #33 above: I ate my last salami today. 10 Weeks cure was much better than 7 Weeks.

I have another 2 hanging for mid February.
