Hurricane resurrection

Damn Mailman. What a question to ask! They are the ones listed for my bike. Looked at one and my originals and they are the same size. Throat measured 27MM on both. 27 sounds like a odd size. Are you trying to give me a heart attack.
From here....

I’m not sure what the going rate is for them in Oz, I haven’t actually seen another one for about 6 years, not that I’ve been looking, I do know that old bikes sell for a lot more here than in the states, when I imported my XS I could have sold it for a profit easily, even after shipping fees, import tax etc, 40k is about 30k US, still seems pretty high to me, I’ve seen quite a few Z1 900 Kawas advertised for 35k ish, how much the sellers actually got I don’t know.

A few pics. Test fit new exhaust today. There's nothing easy to work on on this bike.

The 3 silencers have to be put together and bolted to the bracket behind them. Pic above you can see the crossover tube between them. Pic below is the bracket. With silencers loosely bolted to frame then you have to convince each pipe to slide into its silencer and onto the exhaust adapter (pipe) sticking out the exhaust port. 2 different angles, first not bad, second bit worse and the third a S.O.B.

Not real happy with the spacing of the silencers. It's all repop stuff. It's not bad but it's not factory. The repop choices are severely limited. I'm guessing there is only one place that makes them. Several places I get parts from listed them as out of stock until a few months ago. Then they all said they were available. Reason I am replacing the exhaust is because my original exhaust is pretty rough. I may have been able to clean up the silencers but new is new. I'll probably clean it all up and hang it on the wall for garage art. Not everybody has a complete Hurricane exhaust on their wall. :D

Going to have to do a do-over on the exhaust. I forgot to order the clamps that clamp the silencers to the exhaust pipes. Believe it or not Baxter in Iowa has the clamps in stock. The one you see above is a oddball. The heat shield attaches to it.
Also worked on installing the new carbs. More on that later.

I see where you've painted the oil tank, distinctive abrasion scuffing where the seat glass rubs the tank.
You're doing a great job, I wish I had bought the one I used to work on when it was offered, but alas I had no money in those days.

What is it they say, "Absence, or Distance make the heart grow fonder"
I worked on a lot of bikes when I was in my early twenties for side money. The Hurricane and the early K1 model Honda 750 both. I can't honestly say the Hurricane was a better performing bike but the exhaust note coming out of those three megaphones was sheer music and it probably enhanced the seat of the pants feel of how the bike ran. The thing seemed to come on like a freight train.
It was louder and had a throaty exhaust note than the Honda, it wasn't as smooth as a 4, between oil weepage and the gas smell from tickling the Amals to start it, there were the smells that rose up when the thing was at temp that made it a full sensory experience that you just didn't get from the Honda.

I think that can be said of most British bikes, if you like them, you tend to love the character and history more than the performance!

@RC4MAN
Do these parts look familiar to you? Or anybody else. If so I have a few questions about them.

Carb related, looks like part of the linkage that raises the slides

Did you ever have the slides off of the linkage? I'm replacing my carbs. I got it all apart. Just not sure on what is the best way to get it back together.
