I just received word from Rhy, Jake's son, that Jake (@Jake650 ) passed away yesterday.

Hello Jim and the XS650 forum,
My name is Rhy Norton and I am Jake Norton’s son. I am not sure if you were aware, but two-and-a-half years ago my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Jake did everything that he could to fight this disease. Major surgery, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, a multitude of clinical trials...Unfortunately, despite these actions, Jake passed away yesterday morning. His passing was peaceful with his wife and son by his side.
I'll include the PDF so you can read his full message.
Jake was a machinist par excellence. He was in the process of restoring an XS1. Rhy has joined the forum... @Rhy650 . He assures us he will continue his Dad's work.
Vade in pace Jake...go in peace friend.

It is always so sad to hear of someone's passing on this forum. Though most of us have never met in person, there is a kindred spirit amongst us. Prayers for the family and deepest condolences. It is really good to see his son picking up where his father left off, and is committed to finishing the bikes in his dad's honor. Amazing work on both bikes!

I just saw this, another good man gone :(. It sounds like he put up a heck of a fight. Thanks for letting us know Rhy and Jim.
To Rhy, if you are reading this, you have my sincere condolences, and welcome to the forum. I’m happy to hear you wish to finish your dads bike, a legacy project is a wonderful way to honor your dad and it will be a keepsake that you can treasure for many years to come. Best wishes to you and your family.

So sorry to hear about Jake passing away - he was a wonderful guy.

Welcome Rhy - from Canada's sunny southern coast in Windsor, Ontario. Please post lots of photos and let us know if you need anything for your project.

Much of Jake's contributions on this forum were in the background and little known about. Here's one....
Many of you know about the Suzuki GN250 ignition (gonzo) conversion we're working on. I can't remember if Jake ever put this out in public, but these pics are from a PM I had with him. He designed and built a fixture to make adding the TCI magnet to the rotor foolproof. He wasn't asked to, he just did it. I said Jake was an excellent machinist... well feast your eyes on this beauty. He made it to be a "loaner tool" for anyone who needed it... for the community.
