Hand made Aluminum tanks

I recall a while back that DaddyG had a customer tracker build where his customer bought a custom tank that looked like a Kawisaki w650 made with mounts to fit an xs650. I always liked the look off it. I don’t know anything about it other that what they shared.

**edit- digging deeper looks like they are called Kham Moto Products in Thailand.

Here's an update on these tanks.

After emailing with Omega Racer, I decided to order their tank. Impulsive but I'm excited. Since my XS is a 1981, I only have 1 petcock on the left side. Omega confirmed they can make the tank with 1 instead of 2 petcocks so this will also save me from having to rig a T in the fuel line. :) Here is a link to the tank: https://www.omegaracer.com/parts_store/prod_6602144-Yamaha-XS650-Aluminium-Tank-The-Original.html

As for the others, I messaged Kham Moto (mentioned as the source for DaddyG's build) but I didn't get much information. Their website has lots of tanks but the only Yamahas are for SR400/500. Since it's a big gamble on a custom build shipped from overseas, I kinda wanted to stick with Omega since they have built XS tanks before. Here is a link to their shop. Lots of stuff for Triumph bikes. Kham Moto (http://www.khammoto.com/products/)

It will take a while before I have pictures and results to post, but I will definitely update when I have it. :)

Very cool. I am deciding whether or not to have my tank chrome powder coated. If I can't use my current tank due to fuel vapor issues or whatnot, it would probably be cheaper to go with the aluminum tank instead.

Very nice looking tanks and the workmanship is impressive. Are there special precautions to be taken with Ali tanks when storing for Winter or longer time periods? Perhaps its just a matter of emptying them?

That's great to know, stinky78. A little more excited.

Paul, not sure how an ali tank should be stored for the winter but they don't rust as easily as steel. I'll have to look into proper winterization.

Daniel, I hope it turns out as good as the dream! :D

been looking at these for a while and drooling ,the indian tank as you said is only for the 400 and 500 (au $ 837 +83=920) but surprisingly is dearer than the omega (usa) tank , both not cheap , 740 aust without shipping plus 74 gst =814 for the omega but i know which one i would go for , now just got to win lotto and get it and a ducktail seat as well .. congrats mac they look well worthwhile

I just got mine in last month and its gorgeous!! :) I can't wait to try it out when the bike is ready. Finally got some pictures up to share. I'll get it on the bike when the garage isn't freezing cold. :)
