hi all! I’m hoping someone can help with this, I’m in the process of fitting some Mikuni RS36 carbs to my 77D, I was going to use a switch block from an SR500 because it has pull/push cables, the kill switch on the SR works by grounding the coil in the off position, XS ones seem to work the other way in that they have continuity in the run position, can anyone recommend an alternative switch block with push/pull cables and continuity when in the run position? something that looks period correct would be nice too, starter button is optional.

I use a K& S switch block on my XS. It does not look period but looks like a factory Yamaha switch.

The numbers on the box are: K & S stock no. 12-0203 OEM#4C8-83975-00-00

I bought 4 off ebay a while ago quite cheaply.

If you really want the stock look you could fit a relay that has the coil energised through the SR kill switch. The contacts of the relay open the XS ignition circuit.

If you at some point plan to fit a CDI ignition, like VAPE (formerly known as Powerdynamo or MZ-B), or something similar, the SR switch will work as it is.

thanks guys, I think for now I might get a K&S one and just get a generic push/pull throttle, I already have a set of SR cables which should work, I have been thinking about getting a power dynamo for my bikes original engine, I just swapped it out for a second hand one so I can still ride while I rebuild the old one, the Vape/PD is one of the the things in the maybe list for the rebuild, they seem like a pretty rock solid set up.
