Total newbie question here. I just bought a '75 xs650 which I'm attempting to rewire. The previous owner removed the ignition (along with all the other wiring except headlight, taillight, and kill switch.) I was hoping to get an inexpensive universal ignition on ebay, but whenever I check the fitment, it says it's not compatible. Is this right? Do I have to get one specific to my make and model? I'm going with just a kick start, no electric start, if that matters. Thanks

Does it still have the points in it, if so you just need to come up with coils and condensers.
I think it does still have all that. And it will start with a kick. I was just wondering if a universal ignition, like you find on ebay, will work. Right now it doesn't need a key to start, and I want the added security of a keyed ignition.
