That’s a beautifully , well sorted bike! He’s done all the necessary updates. I’ve always had a soft spot for that self destructive bastard. :laugh2:

You may recall that I had a 1974 DT360 back in the 90's. I really loved that bike and rode it often in my back lot.
Here's a picture:

I picked up a Yamaha TT500, so I sold the DT360 to a neighbor friend so we could attack the local rural trails.
Years later I regretted selling it, and have been looking for one ever since.
This past summer I saw one on Craigs for $1200, similar condition to this one on Portland Craigs, so I hooked up the trailer and chased it down real quick.
It started right up, and I rode it around, but it stalled repeatedly and wouldn't rev up well.
The seller turned out to be a BS artist; his lies were pretty easy to spot, and his claims to be a top-flight collector/mechanic were laughable.
Two of the cylinder head nuts were wrong, so someone had been into the top end.
Aaarrgghh.....
With Covid lurking in the air, I walked away.
Maybe It'll surface next year.
I do want another DT360.

How did you like your Triumph
I bought one like a few tears ago but it seams so top heavy and clumsy when maneuvering it around parking lots in the garage etc.

Hey, It was so long ago that I was riding the '69 Bonney, but I recall it being similar to the XS650. I rode it to Boston from Syracuse and back many times with no issues. I hope to put it on the road again someday. Its been in the living room for about 20 years. I'll give you a road test update when that happens. :)

I've got a 01 900 Adventurer and of course it's a lot heavier than the 650
On the road it's a great bike just top heavy maneuvering
That's a nice looking bike !

As I understand it it comes down to 2 kinds of people in this world
Not now talking about those who love XS650 and those who hate them
But instead of those who prefer the 68 Bonneville and those for the 69
It looks as a very fine machine ..So if possible more pictures would be nice to see

Always glad to accomodate a request for more pics.
I had a '68 Bonneville when I was about 18, then a '69, both of which I chopped (that was "the thing" back in the '70's).
I got this '69 in '82 and rode it for about 10 years, initially with the crummy rattle can black paint:

...and then restored it in the late 90's doing all the work myself, including the lacquer paint job.

...and then wheeled it into the living room "for awhile". I had too many vehicles in the garage at the time.

Yes Sir
Oh what a beauty
That is a fine machine .. The cover against the floor ..Are usually at another place.
If you understand my meaning. Even at motor shows / exhibitions
Assuming oil is in it
Headers looks brand new.
Cant remember seen mufflers with eccentric inlet hole. But it was long ago and
most had non stock mufflers then.

Interestingly, this Bonney didn't leak, but about 5 years after placing it in the living room, it did begin to weep a drop or two from below the engine; I just let the rug soak it up. :)
I might have replaced the headers, can't remember.
The mufflers are original, but had a couple small dents, so I had them fixed and re-chromed.

EDIT: regarding the mufflers, I'm not seeing this style on Bonney pics online, but I am seeing them on Daytonas ! No one has mentioned this before...

The Daytona was uncommon here then.. I don't know anyone that had one. I did not know it existed even.
For many years.
That is perhaps why I have not seen it
it can also be a difference in US Models against European . Or the USA Importer has made his own choices.
If the orders are in and customers are waiting for bikes. Come summer Down payments done perhaps
The shipment are sent off ..I would assume. With Daytona mufflers on Bonneville's
Who would care then and there. ??
