Hi guys-
Been AWOL this season as I am rebuilding a '68 DT1, and have been pretty focused on that. I have a question from a member on the enduro website regarding gas tank badges from the early time period for both the 650 and 250 enduro series. He has acquired 2 sets of badges marketed to him as intended for his early (not a '68) DT1. As you may know, the badges are physically very similar. What he was sent was one set that was black and silver, and one set that was black and gold.

No one seems to be able to say what bikes the gold badges would have been on. (He was expecting 2 sets of silver).

So my question is: were the earliest 650 tank badges silver, gold, both? If they were silver, what bikes would the gold ones have been on?

I'll send any feedback to the group there. Curious people want to know!

Black / Gold like these?;)
(DS-7, R-5?)

I believe the cs3 used a black and gold badge BUT I think it was slightly different... can’t say for sure.

Yeah Machine, that's kind of what I was thinking of. Couldn't recall the # though. The badge does look very similar to the early 650 & enduro models. I'll let them know on the other site.

Thanks for the reminder, too. I had a very lovely young lady I was involved with decades back who rode an R5. Wonderful memories!!

I think the 650 XS1 uses the exact tank badge from the DT1 (red background) and the 650 XS2 uses the tank badge from the R2 (black background, silver letters).

Now that you say that, I think you are quite right. I think I recall seeing them that way.

The reproduction badges I see on offer are frequently marketed as fitting both the XS1/2 and the DT1, so probably correct on that one also.

Thanks all!
