Evening all,
I'm halfway through a valve adjustment on a recently acquired bike and I'm stumped because both the set nuts on the exhaust valves are absolutely jammed closed. I've given them hearty torque and some lights taps but definitely wary that these are breakable. Anyone have any advice?

Do you have a hot air gun? Hair dryer?
Maybe some heat and a drop of light oil on top of the nuts/adjuster threads and those may just snap loose.
I've felt some pretty crisp snap release on those adjuster nuts before as well.
Good luck -R

A six point socket is more desirable than 12 for this. I suggest a 3/8 drive six point socket on a long pull handle. Got air? An impact wrench should do it. Use only as much air as required.

I confess that I have not encountered these particular stuck nuts.

What JMM says, or if you don't have those items my personal next step would be a length of pipe over the handle of a regular box wrench for leverage. 6 pt. is best but high quality 12 pt like Craftsman or better should do the trick fine. Definitely not open end though.
