CB project

I pull the plug on card number four and nothing came out so I put a small piece of fuel line against the hole and blue and gas came out of the other three carbs so I’m wondering what the issue could be?

No answers for ya... but congrats on getting it running!!

Pulled the bowl off carb 4. Must have been a stuck needle because I got gas to flow now. Bike starts and runs on choke, will almost idle on full choke.

Gary the tank was just coated, new fuel and lines probably didn’t get the carbs cleaned as well as I thought when I originally did them almost 2 years ago.

Remember this pic?

Burned out. Problem child had to be put on the shelf for a few. I will finish this guys, just need a reboot.

Don't give up on the carbs turn! Sometimes they need to be taken off and cleaned three or four times.... I know it sucks.I'm getting so I try and do the absolute best job I possibly can the first time to limit the number of re doos

Also if you haven't already make sure and get some proper OEM or k&l parts for those things. There really is no substitute.

Alright! Retirement going full swing and I’m in Texas at my Dads house to either solve this issue or find a new one. didn’t post a pic from when I got here but I’ll get things caught up to speed. Came down last Sunday with my daily rider and the CB in the trailer along with my Metric boxes and any part I could think of. The goal is not to finish it in a rush, just finish it with my Dad on my team. We spent a few hours pulling the engine out of the frame and the main reason I wanted to do it here was because Pops has just about every tool known to man. We got everything unbolted and rolled his engine lift into place and got the engine63653D0E-3EFB-421C-8971-7AF2FCDDFE04.jpeg on the floor. I know what he can do and although not much experience with motorcycle carbs, I’ve seen him do plenty of carb jobs on large and small and always did a great job so I dangled a good article about my setup and left them lying on a table. Sure enough he couldn’t resist and took them apart today and started soaking in the ultrasonic cleaner.

Took me a minute to find all the fasteners, maybe if I would have just pulled the oil pan instead of trying to skip a step I might have not been wondering what I missed and why the case wouldn’t move.E694932E-9330-42B7-A7FF-16BB82C5190C.jpeg
Once I figured out that I wasn’t getting by anything I pulled the pan and the lower pump for the Torque Converter.AD88D727-C9D2-4737-AE50-43C5D2F68C69.jpeg Everything inside was really nice and clean.
And here’s the whole reason, the leaky seal that literally took 6 seconds to put on.2F0F9FD7-3A95-4B9F-9407-49CA7971BEF3.jpeg
Tomorrow we’re picking up some Yama/Hondabond and head the other way.

When I pulled the shifter mechanism off I also noticed a broken guide arm inside that needed to be fixed.2188944D-483B-4525-B56E-9A689C992ECB.jpeg I took care of that with the welder and began the cleaning process for reassembly.F1323B51-877E-4B19-B520-E4D00AB03D5B.jpeg The old gaskets were welded to the case and also NLA so that was fun. I made gaskets for the shift mechanism, oil pump, alternator and oil pan. The last two are still available but why bother?255ABA58-7A5D-4485-AA7F-A4B89C5A3701.jpegDA25F1D5-6EF7-4FC8-A01D-1663F6008305.jpeg. Oil pump all cleaned and reassembled.37F0DE1A-E73C-4433-B8EA-250758B56CE2.jpeg I was able to completely assemble the engine yesterday and today was installation.75AF529F-D448-45D9-AACB-C49C83E73AA5.jpegusing my Dads engine hoist I was able to wrap a strap around the engine low enough I just pushed it into place and bolted it up.B6F93C2E-FB3B-46B6-93CE-B3EC1D547E3E.jpeg
Hopefully tomorrow the Carb reassembly will be complete and I can get those back on. While the Carb guy does his magic I’m going to work on recovering that seat.

I have a guy down the street that has a shitload of CB750 SOHC stuff for sale cheap. Like 3 whole bikes 4 motors, etc. probably get it for cheap. My cousin lives in Waterford. It'd be 3 hrs south of you.
