CB project

JRay I started this project on a whim and because it was unique but after this one I’ve Got an XS sitting in the wings. This bike has fought me all the way. I’m actually getting nervous because the last few days have gone smooth.

Having the bike together minus the carbs gave me some time to do a few other things. I started soaking the tank I picked up because it had nasty old gas in it and it has to be cleaned. I also recovered the seat with an aftermarket repop I picked up. 5D0BA57D-B3E3-43A7-88FA-93CB76A66282.jpeg5D24278A-6F56-40F2-AB67-72FF5E4DE2A3.jpeg

Jumped right on it today and got the carbs back onB929E0DC-5621-4C63-96BF-365B2CF97990.jpeg. Then while the tank was drying out from flushing I had this great idea! My fuel line had a kink in it from the edge of the tank lying on it so I took a Phillips, inserted it in the tube and grabbed the heat gun to soften it up and move it back into shape. Great! Flipped the switch the wrong way and melted my line in half. Road trip! Off to the nearest automotive because I didn’t bring any spare with me.
Tank clean, bike together but back to my no start issue After the top-end work. Darn bike looks great but that’s worthless if it won’t run.EB080AAB-133C-46B5-9726-118B949D698C.jpeg

One step closer, played with the timing today and she fired up. Low speed jets are working great but can’t get it to rev up. Gets a little better each start but it’s making me wonder if it’s in the carbs because if you get on it it stalls. Made a vid but it’s too big to load

I’m thinking my intake boots are causing my issues. I took the carbs back off for a check yesterday and when I put them back on I can’t get it to keep running without spraying gas in the carbs. I feel I’m sucking air and it possibly ran better once verything was warm because it could have caused the boots to swell. A set is available and only $120. I think I’m done again until I get back home. Anybody got any thoughts?

Sometimes it takes a case of stupid a few days to wear off. Sprayed fuel around the carb boots and she fired right up. Leaving for home tomorrow morning so it will be something for when I get back home but I believe I accomplished what I set out to do. Bike is completely back together.735F513A-CC10-4744-871E-A269691BA918.jpegB79F33CB-2328-4F7B-B80D-9FD1FFE89582.jpeg
