Went to buy a tube for the Z1 project and walked out with this

In 1974 I went to the local Chevrolet dealer for a harmonic balancer pulley and came home with a new El Camino. Go Figure?
In 74 I went to a Pontiac dealer for sumpin'.... :umm:
Drove away in a brand new Formula 400 Firebird.
Damn them salesmen are good.

Luckily, the current Yamaha "design language" does not appeal to me. The Yamaha dealer is on the outskirts of town, on the road i drive almost daily...
The 700 twins and 900 triples are very good, from what I read, but I struggle with the looks. Admittedly, I seriously considered the 700 Tracer a couple of years ago, but the low payload put me off it. With the ol'lady on the back, there was hardly left any allowance for luggage.

If there was a local Triumph, Guzzi, Ducati, or BMW dealer, I would definitely struggle to control myself........

That is one new motorcycle that I find myself seriously attracted to. Sporty yet comfortable with more than enough power. Nicely done! I came this close to buying a new Suzuki SV650 after going to the dealership to buy some oil.

Small private local shops are relatively safe to pass through. Check this out, the first actual swap meet in a very long time next weekend!

Randy that looks like a cool little shop! We really just don’t have stuff like that here, just big chain stores.

Ooooooooooo, yer gonna LOVE that bike!

I have the 2016 version of that, the FJ09. I bought it sans the bags and later stripped the windshield and handguards off it for a "naked" look. Huge reduction in wind noise and less of the Transformer Oogliness. Both Good Things IMHO.

That 900 three-ple is the sweetest engine I ever threw a leg over. GOBS of power, but pulls from anything above idle.

Better buy one before they are discontinued. Apparently 180 or 270 degree parallel twins like Ninja650s and Yamaha 700s are cheaper to manufacture and more compact than a 90 degree V-twin. But the V-twins are still the genuine article as far as I'm concerned. And the SV looks a lot better than those two competitors as well,

I loved everything about my '03 SV650 except handling with a passenger. Solo handling was wonderful after I installed Race Tech cartridge emulators and fork springs up front and an Ohlins double clicker shock in back and swapped the crummy Dunlops for Pirellis, but taking a rider on board made things very twitchy. It's a lot of bike for the money.

I was looking at the Tracer in 2019. Didn't need it but what the heck. Quite a bit different than the FJR and my other 4 cylinder bikes. We used to own the Kaw 650 ninja and I thought that was a fun engine until the ST1300 took me and it out of commission. Just too many nice bikes out there.

:bike:Congrats Cra-z1! I've been admiring them from afar since the first year of FJ-09. I rode a friend's FZ-09 - huge power! I had just acquired my '06 Honda 919 though, and was in love with that so no Yamaha at that time.
You installing a radar detector?

No Radar detector, I'm old school and take my chances. That why I sold the GSXR1000. I hope they open the boarders this year I would like to do some more riding in your area

Stopped in to dealer for a snowmobile part and ended up purchasing a Brand New Kawasaki W-800 (2021) Blue color Standard Model or Classic.
Definitely not getting rid of the xs650 but its going to my Son who has expressed a lot of interest lately in it.He was into sport bikes but has since
changed his mind and prefers the classics, thank God!

:cheers:Funny about your take on riding here. I hope they open things up so I can ride in WA and OR again! I don't have a radar detector either, and got away with many, many excessive speed runs on my 919. That is primarily why I sold that Honda. Tempting fate, I was.

Tempting fate, but also feeling alive at the same time.
Traffic patrols are way down in Western Oregon and Washington. Some weekends have nearly no traffic enforcement lately.
Bikes and Jap road race car guys seem to fly at will especially at night.
I'm guilty too in the ZoomZoom
