Hi guys! Many of you have donated to the site over the years and it has always been very appreciated! You help keep the lights on around here.

I've decided to try out a different way for members to support the site. You can now become a site supporter for $12 per year and your account will display a green XS650.com Supporter badge under your avatar.

Some of you already donate more than that, so there are options for $25 and $50 per year support levels as well. As of right now, all supporter levels will show the same badge.

In addition to the badge, 6 out of the 7 banner ad locations are disabled for supporting members. There may be more features and perks added in the future for supporting members.

To become an XS650.com Supporter, click the Profile Icon and click Account Upgrades.

Thank you very much to everyone that has donated over the years! If you've donated in the last 12 months, start a private conversation with me and give me your email address, so I can manually upgrade your account. And thank you to all of our future supporters!

Does this also apply to the guys who write tutorials and post answers to every day questions............i would say these people also contribute to keeping the site active and financially secure through traffic that help to generate adds..........

We now know who donates money, Is this a peer pressure way of making some feel they have to donate..........

Doug,

Great questions. (I knew you'd ask!) I plan to create a Top Contributor badge for our most prestigious members like yourself. There may even be a few levels. I haven't completely nailed down the criteria yet, but will soon. It will include similar perks and features like most ads being removed. I know you run ad blockers, so showing less ads doesn't help you, but I will try to come up with some other perks to make the badge desirable.

I've said for years that it is the members who make this site great and if it weren't for you guys, this site wouldn't exist. People support the site in different ways... by viewing ads and supporting our sponsors, posting content and answering questions, and direct donations... or all of those things!

People can still donate anonymously as they could before, but many people like to be recognized for their donations and appreciate the badges and other perks.

well $12 is surely little enough for all the pleasure we get out of logging in and posting every day of the year :)
No reason why Travis should continue to stump up the ever increasing costs of hosting this forum for all of us.

I'd like to donate but my Paypal account is not linked to my xs650 membership ISP . Any ideas how I could do this Travis ?

I'd like to chip in again, is it possible to get a mailing address? I still write checks!

whats a check ? :) I heard someone the other day mention 'cash' what on earth is that lol :D
Actually Mox I think cheques are far safer than online banking, purchasing and card swiping but I wouldn't want to go back there now.

When you click purchase on the account upgrades page, it will bring you to paypal to create the subscription or complete the one-time payment. If you already have recurring payments from before, you can cancel them in paypal. If you need any help, feel free to message me.

my Paypal account is not linked to my XS650.com membership ID ......or to my XS650.com registered email address .

I cannot access XS650 from my other computer because it has a different registered email address linked to the paypal account .
I would need to join and have a second member ID with a different email address to be able to donate from my Paypal account
fcuk me that doesn't even make sense to me lol:rolleyes:

You're over thinking it. It doesn't need to be linked and you can pay with any paypal account or credit card. When you click the links on the Account Upgrade page, the magic happens behind the scenes. The functionality for the account upgrades is a part of the site software and they have it all figured out.

so I don't need to log in in order to pay is that correct ?

In that case how do I get

How do you suggest I reach the 'accounts upgrade 'page when I am not a member and I cannot log in ??? :umm:

You are a member here. The account upgrades page is on this site. I'll start a private conversation with you.

Hmmm, I tried to become a Supporter member following the steps described above (Profile > Account Upgrades > Supporter [XS650.com 1 year]) The PayPal payment went through to Trav LLC, but then I received a refund of the $12 from Trav LLC. Not sure what happened or why. When I just tried to do it again, the "Purchase" option is not available. It only has "Cancel Subscription" --- not sure what to do at this point. There is no green banner under my name. Please advise.

@rbirkey Because you live in WI, paypal charged you sales tax even though it's a non-taxable transaction. I looked for a way to turn it off and there isn't one. Hopefully with the next major site upgrade this glitch will be taken care of. Anyway, yesterday morning I sent a refund for the 66 cents of sales tax, not the whole amount. Since the original payment amount was different from the upgrade tiers here, the software didnt know what to do, so I manually upgraded your account. You do have the badge under your name. It might have taken a while to show up with the manual upgrade. Sorry for the confusion, and thank you for your support!
