Pulled an ice cold soda from a vending machine like this

Used a manual typewriter

Or a pay phone

Or had a cordless phone with a collapsible metal antennae

When was the last time you took a photo with a camera that used flash cubes?

He’s an old hippy and he don’t know what to do, should he hang on to the past or should he grab on to the new……..

Can opener on a paint can yesterday. :p
A couple years ago a Minnesota state park with no cell service had a landline payphone to use their 800 reservations number.
All the others; WAY past remembering.

Remember buying a cordless phone... thinkin' I was cool and all... a few weeks later my neighbor showed me his new cell phone.... :(
As always... late to the party.

A bottle & can opener is an essential camping tool. Pay phone? When was the last time you saw a phone booth? (with the folding door) Show most of these kids today a hardwired rotary phone, and they won't understand it. Kodak made zillions with the Instamatic. In fact, I used to have a 110 camera that used flash cubes. Manual typewriter? Where's the screen? You mean it's a printer? Oh, the memories....

I’m trying to decide if things have improved since then. It seems I was happy without all this stuff.

When my brother was in high school ( in the 60’s ) he had a job at a soda bottling plant here in Phoenix. I was thinking about that this morning. I have to say I really did enjoy it when soda came in glass bottles. It was a ritual when you went to the gas station , to walk over and plunk a few coins in the vending machine and pull out an ice cold Dr. Pepper! The bottles were only 12 oz. and you could usually drain it while your car was gassing up. Now they run inside and get a 44oz. Gut buster soda and a slice of pizza!

I have not so fond memories ( pre cell phones ) of when I first started carrying mail, my mail truck breaking down or getting a flat tire and having to hoof it back up the road a mile to the last pay phone I passed. You may not realize it but those mail trucks break down a lot!

4 decades back I had a Pentax (?) 110 Special camera. It was like a 35mm SLR in 110 size. I had a flash, winder and lenses. Great traveling camera. Lost the body somewhere along the way. One could get different film speeds in 110 cartridges.

Never did it my self but heard that some of the "bad boys" would sneak up to one of those bottle machines with a bottle opener and a straw. Pop off the top and slip the straw in and drink the soda!
It works the upright machines not so much

"Pulled an ice cold soda from a vending machine"
only beer from mine can't find bottled pop anymore (sorry kids)

Bought his one in the 70's
Paid $10 for it and when I got home found out the cash box was full of coins $6.50
So for $3.50 I got a beer fridge
Nothing like an ice cold long neck in the summer

It's a Vendo 81 which means it will hold 81 bottles of 8-10-12oz \Of course in my gypsy days it got moved enough that I lost the bottom shelf
So now it's a Vendo 72? Still 3 cases of beer
