Venture forth.

Well, dampers (in general) sometimes won't work for all oscillation frequencies they encounter. If "they all do that" is the general consensus, I'd be looking at swapping it out for an aftermarket one that (hopefully) does a better job.
But that's jus' me.... :cautious:
In an effort to improve "low speed handling" the 2nd gen revised in 05 steepened the steering head angle. increasing the tendency for head shake. the forum has about a "million" threads. Front tires cup, shake ensues, the short version. Aside from one outlier crash at 118MPH all either just deal with it, or spend a LOT of time and money with dubious success before deciding to just deal with it.
Wayback story. The CB900F would weave at high speed on the race track, front tire was cupped in the middle. about 20 minutes with a belt sander removing the tread block edges that stuck up "fixed" it. The only set of tires I ever wore out at the edges not the middle............
I'll look at my front tire today. Note bike has an on board air compressor with a hose that reaches both tire valves.
I suspect if I dig in deep enough Ima gonna find the wine cellar. :p
PS previous owner had just returned from a 6500 out west trip. Bike won't spit me off anytime soon.
I may remove the quick connect trailer hitch.o_O

Heres another for you Gary..2004 before the steering head changed...
Damn these things are huge...It would be neat to take the rear topbox off and make a bagger of it..That would shave off some weight...some...

Looking like a camping trip to the North shore MN / Lake Superior starting Sept 12th.
Getting used to riding a road pig (again). Mostly just gotta adjust your, expectations. While stripping out the radio comm stuff I lost the powered center stand action, so looks like remove the tupperware again. Ordered a 777 HD Shinko for the rear.
Good news is I've fixed "most of the rattles" and ALL the warning lights are out (for now) No I didn't just cover them with black tape. :p

My 1978 Standard "spit me off" at about 105, early 1980. New front tire? Un balanced? Don't know for sure. I had 10,000 miles of experience then and am certain I did most of the right things to allieviate the terminal oscillation. Good enough helmet saved me. Over the next 14 years I logged another incident free 70,000 miles but have not ridden much since about 2000.
