1970 True Barn Find

So looking at the front forks. Are they steel, why do they look so rusty? I just bought a new trailer for this purpose and maybe haul a bike around to Arizona in the winter. Maybe visit Bob

Still waiting for battery, everything is cleaning up well but rust is rust, What is an alterative to re-chroming everything ? to costly for me and this project.

It looks good enough to save. Just don't go for a total restoration to factory specification. A good wash will do it wonders. Painting is an alternative to chrome, just depends what you are looking for.The only chrome I'd go for is the forks if needed. Hopefully the gaiters saved them. In the UK it would cost £160 to have the the forks ground, rust spots build up, hard chromed then ground to specification. When you take the head off if there is no rust in the cyclinders above the top rings then you may not even have to fit new rings. Just play it all by ear. Before doing too much work, drop the oil just so you know it isn't full of water.

Good luck.

Did you sell the bike , the reason I ask s a guy on the z1 forms bought one that was a barn find from the Seattle area?

No I kept it and I am cleaning it up. I want to get it running. Still waiting for some parts before starting engine.
Do you know how much it sold for?

Not Sure how much he paid, i will ask, interesting it looks almost identical (just a little cleaner) to yours and he said it came from Seattle. It was shipped to Australia
