What should I be doing?

May I suggest that you remove the float bowls and post pictures of what you find inside

I think these are those? Looks decent aside from some gunk at the bottom.. boiling everything and then a wipe down soon

OK I am no carburetor guy But I have never seen that much gravel in the bottom
But there is no jelly
My guess that those had been a runner not taken off ..after a while
I would have tried that getting the status of the bike as Mr Skull pointed out.
But there are more than one way to skin a cat .
And as Mr 5 T points out there is already work done.
The sync is gone ..but can be reasonably adjusted.later on
And No Boiling .. Unless there somewhere is described it being possible
Never heard of it.
Say you cook the diaphragms in the carburetor don't know the actual price but can be somewhere around $ 150
for the pair.

Have you separated the carburetors so the T joint came out or was it so on the bike

Check out my thread: WELSH FLAT TRACKER REVIVAL.
There are some video links showing relatively straight forward carb rebuilds on YouTube. They helped me a lot.
Your carb bowls have a bit of crap in them, no worse than mine.
Clean out with carb cleaner. You will probably need a carb rebuild kit to do this justice. There is also a ‘Carb Bible’ sheet on this site which is invaluable. I will post links later.

will do!

Before using any carb cleaner, it's best to remove all the rubber parts as it can destroy them. In particular, the slide/diaphragm assemblies. They are pictured in your last photo on top of the carbs with the big springs sticking out of them. Remove them and set them far aside, marking right and left so they get put back in the same carb. Carb cleaner will shrivel up those rubber diaphragms like a used condom, lol.

Chunks as big as you have sitting in the bottom of your float bowls shouldn't get through if the filter screens are still on the petcock. There's also a filter screen snapped on the bottom of the float needle seat. You can see it at the bottom of this pic .....

Do you have this screw for the sync adjustment? Maybe you just removed it during the disassembly? .....

Yup, I do have this screw.

The carburetor is off and hopefully Not cooked ....Nor solved in chemicals Hehehehe
Provided the carburetor diaphragms is not holed see through, It does not look so bad ,something to work on
I believe

May I suggest focus a bit on other aspects ... one can of course go all in rebuild the carburetors and then later notice that the
cylinder lacks compression aka the black hole where all the money went for refurbish parts that later have no bike to install them
on ending in the same box with no ride but more costly.
May I suggest the carburetors are put on the shelf for a while

Taking out the spark plugs post a picture here
Is there compression at all when stepping on the kick
Do the read up on oil change and filter inspection the carburetor has not been protected filter .. nor opened
So it can be that Oil has not been changed this millennium .Look for dirt and metal in the filters

Spit it out. What have i done for you to call me out as a troll.

I apologize. I was a little deep in my cups last night. Should have kept my thoughts to myself. Just seems like someone is having fun, but I could be mistaken. Apologies to the OP. I wish you luck.

Been wrong before... but I see an overzealous kid that's in way over his head. Palace has made a commitment to take a riders safety course before trying to ride this bike. As long as he follows through on that, I'll offer some help in the spirit of this forum.

Palace, Slow your butt down and pay attention to the advice you're given. Back in the beginning 5twins told you the carb bowls need to be looked at before you decide to remove the carbs. If you'd followed that advice, there's a good chance they could have been cleaned in situ. At least it would have been worth a shot. Now you're knee deep into delicate stuff you don't understand yet. Slow down and pay attention to advice given and you might just have a runner yet.

Appreciate all the help guys. I was definitely way in over my head and wasn’t respecting the bike at all. Really regret taking the carbs all the way off.

I put the carbs back together, and got them back on the bike. She’s got a proper battery now and has no problems with electrical. I messed up somewhere along the lines and what I think is the air mixture screw is still out. Not sure where it goes on my carburetor. Feel comfortable with taking apart carburetor again and putting it back if I have to.

Finally read the manual and have a good idea of what I should do in terms of general maintenance.

I’ve got some problems though. Looking over my handlebars, I notice the front brake acts as if it has no cable or something, even though I see it. it’s completely free to play with and no resistance. maybe a little rough but it doesn’t feel like it’s working. Rear brake is good. My throttle was fine before I took the carburetor off but now it doesn’t pull the lever much if any, what should I do?

The sheath on your throttle cable needs to be placed in the holder that bolts to the carb top .....

That small screw with the o-ring on it in your 3rd pic is a float bowl drain screw .....
