JBM Industries Diaphragms

Yes, bs38's on currently.
Had to spot some Gorilla Glue on the slides to keep them from turning.
They found out that it does happen on occasion and suggested some glue to hold them in place.

Top.

I'll add that only one slide was turning.
I put the diaphragms in and took her for a spin. Ran fine for a while. Checked the carbs and the one had turned. The 38's have that bevel that faces rear and it had turned. I recalled reading about the issue and just put a spot on both, topside. Been holding fine.

I put a set of these in, they are too stiff and the slides sometimes don't return like they should. Do they loosen up with time?

If the symptom is rev not coming down it can be other things . Leaks ? Idle to High ?? Sticking wire ???
I am not good at carburetors .. Others can have better information But wipe the bores with a cleen rag and some solvent can be one
way forward perhaps

Did you install the slides in the same carb they came out of?
Yep. It's not the slides it's the diaphragms. On the bench with the carbs level if you push them up all the way they don't come back down immediately when you let go like they should. If I run wot then back off quickly to about half it will sometimes stumble because of this. Once things warm up and the material softens it gets better.

Possibly, if the slides were swapped one could stick due to a slight difference in wear.
