Poop. They sent me (or I ordered) the wrong part.

The arc voltage selector on my trusty Lincoln SP-130 wire feed welder has been getting increasingly difficult to switch. Rather than keep bulling on it and breaking it, I ordered a new one.

The problem is, my welder has 5 arc voltage choices, the switch they sent me, while otherwise identical, only has lugs for 4.

I've emailed them with an explanation, pictures and the code/serial number of my welder. We shall see what the results are.

Hi De,
if you are stuck with using the 4-lugged switch (sorry we don't make the 5-lugger any more) and your 5-way is truly FUBAR
you just hafta tape up the wire that sees the least use?

That's pretty much the plan, Fred. I have some heavy rubber electrical tape and I'll cover that with heat shrink.

Got a reply this morning. They do not stock the 5 position switch. They will accept a return/refund (minus shipping both ways, of course...) and recommended I contact Lincoln directly to locate the correct part.

I'll hold on to what I have until I get an answer from Lincoln.

They replied. With information about the wire feed speed potentiometer, which has ZERO to do with the arc voltage selector.

I'll give them another chance, only because they have me by the short and curlies.

Electric and electronics components are mostly bough in to the manufacturer
in this case Lincoln
More often than not there is a code marking on these components in the plastic somewhere
If you hack that code into google search it is a good chance you find it and often one can find a
cross reference list .
I would guess at 1/3 of the cost Lincoln would ask

Selectors of the type I believe this is can sometimes be serviced with contact spray and mild lubricants cleaner
5-56 is something people try here please ask around locally be careful with these

You got the 4 pole, do surgery on the 5 pole. Use the ole' over a cookie tray and take lots o pics disassembly.

I think I have it covered. The first outfit sent me M15750. Lincoln tells me the correct part is M15750-1. Another source has the -1 part and if the picture is correct, it shows the 5 lug. I emailed them to verify that it is indeed a 5 lug and if so, I'll return the first one and re-order from the other place.

If not, then surgery is the next choice.

If it's not the correct one, I'd do as Fred suggested. I know there's one setting on mine that I don't recall ever using.
