New 81 Frost Silver XS650

I’m sorry your family has taken such a beating.

That’s a nice bike. I have one residing in my daughter’s shed. It’s hers, but since I moved away there’s no chance of her operating it.
They are like Gold, seems like a nice price at the time to sell one, but in 20 more years only ones like ours are going to be around that aren't chopped to pieces or junked. I live in a City of about 80k and the 650 are a dream to ride in town but I love to get them in the narrow twisting county roads in the hills outside of towns. Plus love the sound.... Best Triumph that Triumph never made! I heard or read that the motors were actually designed in Germany. Built in Japan. Is that true??

Hi Marty, Thank you for the comment on my Family, I've had 3 Heart attacks myself, was down with no heartbeat for 4 min 56 seconds least one. Suffered some Hypoxia....So I'm not as quick on my heels.. Went from 135 IQ to 105.. Did you drain it before storing it? Also is yours an 81 also, what color?

Heart attacks are bad. Avoid them.

My 81 is black with purple glass in the paint. I think it has 6K miles on it. I put over $2K in parts on it after getting the bike for free. So, it goes.

What did you do for carbs B34 or did you go all out? Also electronic ignition or factory?

What is the needle Valve rubber washer Mod?

Think you will find that is for the pre 80 carbs. They had a hard seat on the needle valves but the BS43's changed to a soft seat, (vicron i think). There have been some needle valves, from other carbs, with the soft seat that have been used in early models carbs. I think the angle of the seat is different though.

SHE'S ALIVE!!!
Got her fired up today! Cleaned carbs, front brake, sticking a bit so I only took her on a mile ride, It sure sucks the power and wouldn't dare ride on anything but dry cement, an that is only for short trips. went from dead to both cyls firing, getting a bit of popping from the L (choke side) on rev-down, idles smooth, Both cyls synched, air fuel mixtures are fine, pops right off cold, I got rpl chrome side covers from Mikes XS $34.00 a set, closeout. Getting a bit of oil so heads need re-torqued before riding again. She idles at 1100 rpm warm no problem.
So far I am jumping up and down in joy!!!
Thanks for everyone's help!

Oh yes, dumped Seafoam in the gas and oil, need to figure the front disc issue, Clutch needs adjusted too, Lots of looks, and comments, "I never saw a bike like that before" from youngsters on their widow makers.

Be careful adding anything to your oil, the clutches in these bikes do not like additives like Seafoam or MMO. Best case scenario it will cause clutch slippage, worst case it will wreck the fiber discs. I run a little SF in my gas every spring and usually run an ounce of MMO in every tank but I don't add anything to my oil.

Well done but photos, we need photos.
