From what I've been reading on some of the older threads our Yamaha's take a 3.9mm bullet style crimp not the 4mm
Looks like vintage connection has a kit or 2 I could use (I don't have a crimping tool
Open barrel / ratcheting or not --crimping tool ?
And as far as wire guage most wiring 18g except headlight 16g and main wiring from battery - fuse-main switch-reg/rectifier 14g
Any suggestions as to where to get some of this (some of the postings were a bit old)
I want to be able to cut off a few of the questionable bullet ends and have them mate up with existing bullet ends
As always thanks !!
Mikey

I suggest you get a crimper frame. Then you can add any dies you need.

I've had this one a long time and I like it. Here's the link:

Vintage Connections is a great vendor. I’ve bought several of their bullet and spade connectors as well as some of the multi-plug recepticals (3-way female bullet splitter). I also got the ratchet crimp tool Marty posted above from VC. I think it depends on what models they have in stock at the time you order though. I’ve been very happy with all my purchases from them. Be sure to buy plenty of extras. You’ll want to practice a bit to get the technique down. You need to position just right so one crimp is on the insulation while the other on the copper wire.

Or you can pick up a set like mine for about 500 bucks. :sneaky:

If I was to buy a set of those crimpers I would have more into the pliers than I have into the two XS650's! Guess I could sell one of the Sportsters, might get enough extra to put a new set of tires on the 1978 XS650!
