Whats your weather right now?

Today in Cardiff it cold, grey and dry. But I'm in my retail shop working and it'll be dark when I get away.
Just get home tonight and cook a fillet beef, Gratin Dauphinois with glazed asparagus & carrots.
Wash it down with a lovely Amarone red!

Weather is cold, dark and wet at 23.00hrs.
Dinner was bloody lovely, even my wife said so..... she burns salads mind you.
Wine even better.

Off I went on the Virago this morning to explore part of the nearby Brecon Beacons National Park. The sky was blue with a couple of small fluffy clouds and 6 - 7 Celsius. Very bleak where I rode with signs warning of Sheep and Wild Ponies. Here is the blue:

It looks like I'm stopped on the road, but that's an optical illusion, see behind the bike. The view is brown for miles.

Nice one Paul. I love the Beacons and surrounding areas.
Perhaps I'll join you one day?
Cheers

Turned colder, salt on the roads, not sure how much or even if I will be out on any of the bikes for the rest of this year.

And right now - typing faster in case the lights go out - we're in the middle of Storm Arwen. Met Office Red Warning for severe weather conditions which could put life at risk. As well as causing travel disruption, damage to infrastructure and structural damage to buildings.

Sure is blowing a hoolie out there!

Raymond, it was 20 Celsius and a blue sky in Cardiff to day. Same is predicted for tomorrow...:hump: But you're going to get shitted on tonight! Please post us some snow pictures tomorrow .

Stay safe and warm during the UK's first Winter storm. I hope to ride up to the Brecon Beacons on Sunday to get a snow photo????

Thank you for your concern, Paul, the problem has been wind, not snow. Sorry, no Winter Wonderland scenes.

Mais quelle nuit!
As Storm Arwen passed through and the house shook and rattled.

This morning, we have been lucky, a few slates off, bins blown around and contents scattered, a few large plant pots blown over and smashed. But no serious damage.

And we still have electricity - thousands of people don't.

On my daily walk, quite a few trees down. Everywhere strewn with branches and twigs. And litter. Spent some time in the street picking up litter after the recycling bins blew over - somebody really likes their Diet Coke!

There's a light dusting of snow on the tops of the hills. Met Office warning for heavier falls further West in the Borders. And flooding along the coast in the East of the region.

Police advising against travel throughout the Scottish Borders. At least fifty roads are blocked and some communities are cut off from all directions.

Still very windy but I think the worst has passed.

Raymond, great to hear all is well. In South Wales the storm winds started about 2.00am and the house rattled and a bedroom window whistled non-stop. I must replace the shot window seal. No hint of any snow and very little rain. Pen-y-Fan, highest peak in South Wales at 886m, only has a light dusting of snow at the top according to the Brecon Beacons webcam. Temperature approx. 4 Celsius at present in Cardiff but will rise to about 7 Celsius. Tonight might be a heavy frost for all the UK if the wind stops, perhaps -2 Celsius for you depending on the local geography. The Glens in Scotland will probably drop very negative. Tomorrow's ride will have to wait until noon to ensure any ice has melted.

Sounds like you people in the UK are getting hit pretty good. Glad to hear you are doing OK right now!

Here in Central New York USA we did get a good dusting of snow but only a light to medium breeze. Temps are predicted to stay right around the freezing point for the next several hours.

The snow might be what the hunters refer to a a good tracking snow, just enough to show fresh tracks. Might have to check out the trail camera we go mostly to keep track of neighbors dogs. A couple days ago we got a good picture of a four pointer that was in the field next door around one AM!

Well, thankfully, in the UK we don't have the extreme extremes of weather that you do in the US. But people are thinking wild weather is getting more frequent though. In recent years, we're having once-in-a-hundred-year floods like every two or three years - not here, fortunately. And longer droughts. And now I'm wondering if storms will become more frequent?

Still windy this afternoon and it's going to take a few days for all the closed roads to be cleared. But we've been lucky and not had any damage or even power outages.

When I was walking through the woods this morning, met a family of roe deer just a few yards away. And that's always nice.

We're getting into that part of the year. It's not cold, much milder than yesterday in fact. But the days are short and it's still dark as I type this at ten past nine in the morning. Well, dark enough that I've still got the lights on. Three weeks till we turn the corner.

We had rain all day, or on the verge of it. Calling for thunderstorms tonight and all day tomorrow, low was 53 early this morning. Tomorrow will be 35. The three days of sun hanging about 53, 60, then 61. Gives me a few days inside, motorcycles outside. Time to plan.
