It has no mirrors and appears to have bar end flashers. Gotta have mirrors to ride the thing. I couldn't have it as a garage ornament.
I wouldn't have it either, but I love some of the concepts and the execution. :heart:

What does anyone think of the asking price of $7,500?
If they want $7500, that guy shouldn't have made the video. He doesn't know anything about it and he damaged the cover. Don't get me wrong, I love the XS-2, but $7500 buys a brand new RE Interceptor (if you can find one.)
 
The dealership near me is still getting new ones in, not a lot, but steady. Prices are holding surprisingly steady at $6000.

Bumpus Harley-Davidson in Memphis has taken on Royal Enfield. According to their website, they have no 650 twins.
After careful thought, I ask myself, why would I want one? What can it do that my XS650 doesn't do? I'm capable of maintaining the old bike. I like maintaining the old bike. So, other than being new, what does it offer? I love Moto Guzzi and Triumph, but the dealers are over 200 and 179 miles away, respectively. Buying a new vehicle without dealer support does not make sense to me, no matter how much I want one. So, good for Bumpus. I hope this makes money for them!

Questions which come close to the heart of our enthusiasm. Look at the Ozzie bike Jim put up at #1257. Well received here but tbh what does it do that a modern bike of modest capacity and moderate sporting pretensions wouldn't do better and more reliably for a tiny fraction of the outlay?

But the modern bike wouldn't offer any of the style, soundtrack, involvement or soul of the XS?

The feeling you have when you're out on a bike with a proper mechanical feel to it, especially a survivor from a past age, and ten times more if you worked on it yourself? Money has nothing to do with it.

The RE would hit a lot of those marks if I had no actual vintage motorcycle.

I've never ridden an RE 650 twin, but have read and watched a few comparisons with the Kawasaki W800. The RE has a modern engine - light, revvy. It's a good bike but cream cheese compared to mature farmhouse cheddar.

Cool bit of history on Hondas 250's from the 90's that will rev to the moon and back.
