So somehow I just won the basic Pamco ignition set by buying a t-shirt. Go figure. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but I know you folks have experience where I do not. I have heard great things about this ignition but I'm wondering.............Robert at Omar's recommends the Boyer Bransden ignition. It's also 'bout $300.00. Any thoughts on the advantages/drawbacks of either?

I run the Pamco and love it, but I have no experience with the Boyer. The boyer from what I understand is more complicated than the Pamco to install and to wire. The Pamco can be installed in an hour. What year bike are you running?

I would choose the Boyer if it were like half the cost because it is 100% electronic. The Pamco still uses the original mechanical advance. That's not a problem as long as your advance is in good shape. You still have to maintain the advance and service it periodically, but that's not needed often, maybe every couple years.

If you had a free Pamco or to pay for a boyer half price which would you choose?

Well, hell if you don't want that Pamco, I'll buy it from ya. I personally have a Boyer on one of my bikes and pionts on another, but I like the idea that the Pamco doesn't have a control box like the Boyer and therefore you can eliminate the need for a electronics box or fake oil bag. The Pamco will be my next purchase.

why would you question this? install it and run it!! ill hopefully install mine tonight. ive had it for over a year and havent gotten to wiring yet.

pamco is great! had some issues with the advance unit but never the pamco and sparks with way less power then the stock elec ignition.

No it's more like comparing free healthy to expensive Placebos....

And to boot, the free healthy comes with great health care.

There's a reason I asked what year. What are your plans for the bike overall?

Well, I don't spend my day trying to remember each and every build. I also need to clarify; I have been drinking all day lol. Sunday Funday!! I guess space issues wouldn't matter much as you would have plenty of places to hide the box, but still man I know for me the Pamco was pretty much the only way to go. I wanted to run batteryless. Now I'm running 277 so once again Pamco was the best option (especially since I wanna continue to run batteryless). The pamco just runs on a lot lower voltage.

Thank you, an informative answer, that's what I was lookin' for.

It was me in my avatar. I have been told I look like a lot of people, but never Seann William Scott

Maybe continue our previous discussion here and not in a new thread?

Pregrid, save it, if your current ignition craps out you have the best replacement.
