Boring cost has also gone up. The place I have been using went up from $40 to $70 per hole.

It's been a while. Last time $50.oo a hole. Same with braided steel lines... they'll make them while you wait... use to be $40.oo now nearly $70.oo,,, The tech tells me with the change of owners the prices all jumped. 
local machine shop charges $100 a hole here. They do nice work though.
Machine shop I use gets $75 a hole.
I guess $70 a hole is about average or lower.

Just to put things in perspective, one of the local Buick dealerships in Jacksonville, Fl is now charging $235 per hour in the service dept.

I used Bill Bune because nobody local would touch a two stroke cylinder. They charged $75 plus shipping. Going to use them to rebuild the crank for the same bike.
Small shop I used to use in Gainesville GA doesn't bore any longer, just head, crank and rod work.
Every once in a while I'll see a used Kwik Way or Van Norman on marketplace. Might be worth picking one up to make side money.

2 holes for $50? I've got 8 sets there now, will be done "sometime". He might go up some on the 700cc sets this time cuz thin liner, less material off per pass.

In 1968 we did a bore/hone for $6 a hole, about $54, in today's money.
I owned a machine specific for cylinder bore, made quiet good money as a side kick when I was home from sea, between 1986-1994, got about $20 per hole, unfortunately had to leave it behind when i moved to the US, would have been a handy addition to the garage today!
The place I am sending mine to is in Fla. He does a fast turnaround. He received my cylinder today and it will ship back Monday. The name is Summit Off Road @904-964-1496; ask for Mike.
I did a lot of boring in the 70’s. I think we charged about $10 or less.
