xs110 front end to xs650

The xs750 neck is shorter than the xs650 though the early model tx's neck seems to be shorter than the xs650's. The jury is still out on that one to be able to direct swap a 750 to a tx. I believe the 1100 has the shorter neck also. It sure would be nice to have this frankenbike info down.

XS1100 and XS750 utilize the same neck bearing/stem combo, but the tubes are 37mm & 36mm respectively. There may be slight differences in the triple tree's. On the good side XS1100 and XS650 calipers and rotors are identicle. You could swap stems. I have a complete XS1100 front end and considered doing this. I have an XS 750 triple tree, considered hogging it out 1mm to get the XS1100 tubes to slide into them, (probably not a good idea). Probably the easiest is to carefully remove the XS650 stem and replace the stem in a set of XS1100 trees and weld it back up.

FWIW I believe a Virago XV920, '81 & '82, stem would be long enough to work, plus the triple trees are for 37mm forks. You could use the xs1100 forks, (assuming they are for the standard and not the special which uses 36mm), probably have to look at brake caliper spacing issues.

The XS750, 850 and 1100 Specials use a leading axle fork. The brake calipers are entirely different and use a 10.5 inch disc.
