So iv been workin on the bike all winter and i somehow lost the key..I cant find it anywhere..Whats the easiest way to get a new one!!?? please help!!!!!

Easiest way I know of is to take your ignition switch to a locksmith ... they can cut a new key by code if it is there or they can find the code by reading the individual discs in the tumbler

There may be a number on the bottom of the ignition switch with which a dealer can provide a replacement. Failing that, if you can bring the ignition switch to a skilled locksmith, they can make a key for you.

You get to steal your own bike. It will be fun. And not dangerous at all; not even dishonest.

Simplest way is to get a key that will fit in the slot correctly. Shouldn't be more than a couple dollars. Then re-pin all off the locks. It's easy and shouldn't take you more than an hour.

Hey... I just had the same problem. I used a guy from ebay who sells two keys cut to match your profile for $25.00 + shipping. All you need to provide him is the 4 digit code listed on the outside face of your locks. The code was the same for my ignition, gas tank cap, and helmet lock. I was nervous that it would work out, but after a quick phone call he confirmed he could do it. True to his word the keys arrived three days later and work great. Here is the link to his ad:

Good luck!

I have a friend in puyallup( the one with the georgous , unmolested 71) it sat in his basement for 20 years. I got it running for him, and he lost the key. he took the ign switch to a real lock smith, and had two smooth working keys for 8 bucks in 5 minutes.
I was curious if it was a master's key, so we tried it in his other 80' 650, and my 80' and it only worked in his 71.
but it has to be a real locksmith. not ace, or homedepot.

A little off topic, but what does one do if they want to get the fork lock to work? Assuming there is nothing else on the bike that would reveal a code, can a key still be made for it?
