So i'm running springers on my xs. Because of the rake and springer forks the only way i can have bars is if they're clip ons, otherwise the risers hit the tank. Its THAT small of a clearance.

The problem lies at the forks. i'm planning on putting clip ons right underneath my the triple tree cap/top. The thing though is that it kind of tapers.....keep in mind these are springer forks. It goes from 34mm to 36mm in a 2inch distance, and continues to taper bigger. oh, and its a smooth chrome surface : /

I'd really like to run clip ons, i think it looks good on the bike. But 2 things.....

How can i deal with this tapering issue? i don't want any intense solution like taking a sander too it. I was thinking there has to be some kind of pad maybe that i can wrap around it, and then clamp it down? that'll make the mm's difference even up. idk something like a silicone oven heat pad? just a thought :wtf:

The second, its a smooth surface. Whats the best way to get clip ons to stay on it?

My biggest fear with clip ons is that they'll slide around, no matter how tight i clamp them down.

That is a GOOD fear to have. +1 we need to see it I am not sure what your "springers" means.

You'll go through a lot of underwear if the bars slop around.

Heres a close up. Obviously i plan to put them at the part right before it starts to curve. it might not look like it but it actually tapers bigger.

EDIT: can't get the image to work, give me a moment.

Woosh That's what I was thinkin' you meant. I got nothin'
I'm not suggesting this, mind you, but a set of Aluminum clip ons at the smaller ID and start filing til they fit.

I had the same problem. Here was my solution. Works great and I really like the look. I could have fit risers but that wasn't the look I wanted.

I made them and powder coated them. There a little lower than drag bars on stock tree's which is what i wanted.
