G&L

i've contacted them twice in the past 2 months for a set of pipes and haven't gotten ANYTHING back :(

I dealt with them on my hard tail and I think its only one or two guys, so they are a little slow on turn around but were professional when they did reply. The hard tail quality was great.

I contacted them back in 2007 to do my xs650.
It did take a while to get ahold of them, but it was worth the wait.
I haven't seen much updates to their website, so I don't know what they're doing now.

Wow, feels like a decade ago when I got my bike done.
But they are good guys and great welders.
Their hardtails are unique and well built.
Whenever I get around to it, I'm gonna post pics of my build to show off the hardtail.

If you can contact them, they do a good job, IMHO.

There pipes have been unavailable for a while  ah good ol customer service, nothin like it  I don't get it? All these threads I read about shops "not returning emails" and "has my money but won't respond"? I'm only one guy and anyone who has done biz with me can testify I get back to them in a very timely maner. I may have to work 12hr + days to do it but if thats what it takes so be it or get out of the biz. Can you tell by this rant I HATE bad customer service! It does'nt matter how good someone is at building something if you can't communicate with them, building is only part of the job. There are shitloads of great welders out there but customer service seems to be rare :wtf: I've built and sold 300+ exhaust systems! And I'm nobody! Why so many sales? Good customer service thats why. I must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something because it's very rare for me to go on a rant like this. Being a "small shop" is no exuse for bad service no mater how good your product is. There are plenty of guys ready to replace your ass when your phone stops ringing and email box is empty because your poor service reputaion has finaly cought up with you. Sorry to sound so harsh to my fellow compadre's but everything I said here is true!, You know it, I know it and worse of all the customer knows it :banghead: Now you will have to excuse me I'm off to build a frame jig  P.S. There is nothing personal about this rant at all, I know some of these guys are good people, nice guys etc... This is about customer service, nothing else. And please no one respond to this tirade unless you are one of "those" shops defending your business, no need to fuel the fire.

So Gordon on that note... Feel like doing a hardtail for me. Your bike is/was the inspiration. But maybe only a 38 degree rake. What say ye? Lol

Scott, Your customer service is top notch...and BTW I grin every time I fire my bike with those curved drags...I've gotten alot of compliments on the epic sound it makes....coming from HD guys no less... :)

Hey guys,

Sorry, It's been a while since I've been on here, (nothing new to report) but I had to chime in on this thread. A little over a year ago, I shipped my XS out to Rich at G&L for a complete build and haven't heard from him since October.

I've tried calling and emailing once a month or so... but also tried to be patient and just assume he's busy. I know he's got a great reputation for being a top builder and I'm sure he's probably still hard at work but I've seen a few other threads like this on other forums too and I'm starting to wonder what's going on.

I ordered a G&L hardtail in mid April (2011) and I was quoted about a three week turn around. Its only been about four weeks, so I am trying to be patient and will give it some more time...I just really want to get started on my project...maybe I will start on the engine rebuild.

I emailed them a while back about getting 2 tails made up. They got back to me once and I never heard from them again. I ordered 2 tails from Elswick instead.

Ardcore it is..... A bit further to ship than I wanted to.

Just wanted to update.... I called Ardcore and got the man himself, Jon. Jawed around for 15 minutes and was impressed with his passion for the build. Hammered out a few details and I think I'm ready to pull the trigger.

Just a bump.
When I had my service done in 2008, it took a long time to get everything back.
Probably a couple months.

But the wait was worth it, and I wasn't in a hurry.

gordon, i believe i asked you to shoot me a PM with pricing on your drag pipes like, a week ago. still haven't heard anything lol

It's not that I am impatient.... OK maybe a bit. :) I am fully willing to wait for quality work. I just wanted to iron out details on this bikes build so I can get started on mocking up another bike (75' and 80' builds). I have already started the engine rebuilds and would like to have one of the two frames ready in 12 weeks if possible.

Just a little communication would go a long way at this point.... I understand what it's like to be in demand for a product and from the builds I've seen the quality is top notch. My only gripe was the one email response and then they went M.I.A. I was gonna give them a week or two and try again.

Anyone have any recent contact with G&L? Still just trying to figure out what's going on...?!
Thanks.

Funny you ask.... I was contacted by Richard a week ago and been back and fourth with him in the past week. So he is very much around. Found out he did have some things going on but was getting things done.

Hey Everyone, I haven't seen any updates on my hard tail from G&L yet...but in the same regard, I haven't made an attempt to contact anyone about it either. I have been busy with so many other things lately, plus I ran into some very frustrating engine problems that I wouldn't even have time for the hardtail right now. I will probably give it about a week or so before I give G&L a call..Its only been 8 weeks so far...damn, thats only 5 weeks longer than what he quoted me! But I will update this if I hear anything...

Rogue give Rich a call... the two times I did call him back I got him and one time sounded like he was running up a hill. Turns out he just wrapped a frame he finished.... So seems he's getting things out.

He even called me back out of the blue cause he hadn't got my third email and wanted to make sure he didn't miss it. Communication this week has been spot on.

I agree that gordon is the best when it comes to customer service! He put up with my dumb questions and made me custom fit pipes! And the pipes are amazing as well! Gordon, you spoofs really start advertising straight drags like you made for me :) ill gladly send pics from my build for the website :D thanks again!
