OK friends,

As many, I consider myself mechanically inclined, and possibly electrically too. However, I haven't really done any electrical work other than swapping blinkers and batteries. With that being said. I want to have the following options on my bike: Headlight (Hi and Low Beam), blinkers, tail light, electric start and horn. I am attaching some photos of my electrical command center. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what I have, (i.e. Regulator, Rectifier, Condenser, Turn signal cancelling unit, Relays, etc.). There are also a few toggle switches on the housing. Can anyone tell me what those are for or could be for? I will number the items in the photos to make it easiers to respond. I hope the photos are sufficient to answer my questions.

Thanks for your help.

***I have to say that I have met some really amazing people on this forum that are not only generous and knowledgable, but absolutely good human beings! I never expected to find that in a motorcycle enthusiast forum! I'm sure glad I did. Thanks for your help with this quandry.

looks like someone made their own start/kill switch among other things
2 and 3 are the adjustable regulator I believe but dont quote me on that

I agree this looks old and will probably all be replaced, but I just need to know what I am replacing! I have a Clymer manual, but it doesnt get that granular as to show what exact part looks like. Any help is welcomed. I thought one of the switches might be a start/kill switch. Do you have any idea what the other toggle might be for? I also have a headlight that has a switch on it.... I would assume that has the high/low beam on it.

#1---rectifier--- junk
#2---regulator---junk
#3--- resister tat is part of the junk regulator
#4---condenser--- junk
#5---circuit breaker junk
#6---Some sort of junction block---junk
#7---regulator plug goes in the junk with the regulator
#8---rectifier plug goes in junk ewith the rectifier
#9 and #10 one is main switch, the other lights---junk
Replace the points with Pamco.
Replace the regulator and rectifier with the Chrysler/Radio Shack mods.
Wire up like this. Except replace the points with Pamco, just hook in after kill switch. And the reg/rec mods according to the way explained in the mods. Here's the diagram for the reg/rec mods. just need the three nylon screws.

Sweet! That's what I was looking for guys! I figured it was all junk, I just wanted to identify the junk I needed to replace. Thanks for the diagram!

@ Aussie... The rectifier converts the alternating current into DC current the bike can use. The regulator then keeps the current at a constant the level the bike needs to operate optimally. Benefit is it's new electronics, cheaper than replacing with NOS, and it's more reliable than the NOS. There are many threads on this board that cover the topic, just do a search if you want more information.

@ Bobber... Looks good so far. Keep up the good work.

While I'm doing the Pamco thing, is there a cheaper place to get the Dual high output coil? Does a Napa or Checkers carry something like that? I'm going to pick up my Radio Shack/Chrystler combo today. Also, are the flasher relays or ignition condensers, reserve light unit found at Napa or Checkers. Is the power relay the same item as the igition condenser?
