+1 on purchasing a ratcheting crimper. After a bit of practice you will consistently get factory looking crimps.
The tank on the resto-mod is an original from MikesXS (came with the cap and petcocks).
I can’t complain as is seems well made and quite robust....
Should be a plain old hex bolt at the back with a fender style washer. Front is held on by rubbers only.

They are decent for a daily driver. The chrome is not the greatest though.
I’ve had mine installed for a few years now with no issue (size 11boots).

Since purchasing the Norton, I’ve come to realize that prices on aftermarket parts for our XS650’s are a relatively better value.
