Where is the clunk coming from? Due to gear lash in the tranny there is always a bit of a lurchy clunk when letting off the throttle, its more noticable in lower gears. If you have a loose/worn chain then you will notice it even more as the chain slackens and tightens.

To be fair, he could be putting in hours outside of his normal workday to complete the build without interfering with hours dedicated to the others.

Ok guys, i have another related question. Will 34mm springs work in 35mm forks? I ordered 34mm progressive springs from Mikes, but i just found some 35mm forks in my parts stash in much better condition than my 34mm forks and would like to build those instead.

I've got a couple sets of new 35mm fork seals, can i make them work on a set of 74 TX650 forks? Obviously there is that 1mm difference in fork tube size, but the seals are designed to grab onto the tubes pretty tight so maybe that wouldnt be an issue. Thanks!

You can drop the float bowls without removing the carbs to do a quick check on how much crud you are getting into the carbs, the jets are housed in the float bowl so you can clean them out as well.

Just picked up this 74 TX650. My first XS burned up in a blaze of glory last fall, I've been on the hunt all spring and finally found exactly what i'm looking for.

Those were my thoughts, the tank is wedged into those cups pretty solidly. I could probably rework that mount to be lower profile as well. I promise to take some better pictures when i find the charger for my Canon :doh:
