    Mikes Clutch Spring Torque

This is a great tip. I have a lathe, so it was super easy to bore and counterbore the original screws. The hex head makes torquing them so much easier. Thanks. (yes, I know this thread is years old, but wanted to say thanks)

    Cracked casting around bearing journals

Thanks, everyone. That's pretty much what I thought. May be the cause of the engine failure. So yes, I'm in the market for a new set of cases @DADDYGCYCLES Got a price? DM me if you'd prefer.

    Cracked casting around bearing journals

Hey all, I built this motor in 2000 and have been riding it since. All was well until the last few weeks when the motor got noisier and noisier. I knew it was getting tired and would need a rebuild anyway, so I kept riding it until it pretty much quit. I know, not the smartest, but anyhow...

    '79 xs650 Modern Cafe Build

Looking good! My $.02 on the dual discs: I had dual stock discs for a while, but went to one when I swapped to R6 forks and R6 (blue dot) four-pot caliper. When you can barely get over 100mph, the extra disc is pretty much a fashion accessory. Nothing wrong with that. If you like the look, go...

    '79 xs650 Modern Cafe Build

Mine are about an inch above the axle line and two inches behind the stock swingarm pivot, which puts them about directly below the center of my seat position. I like them there for sporty street riding, but if I was racing I could see wanting them a bit further back. I'm 5'10" with 32" inseam...

    Kickstart Lever near Portland, Oregon?

Guys, Thanks for all the offers. I ended up welding it (which I didn't think would work) and it worked great. I rode down to the Corvallis show, but didn't check out any of the swap parts. Looked like mostly non-japanese stuff from a distance. Anyway, all is well, except I should probably...

    Kickstart Lever near Portland, Oregon?

Yes, I ditched the electric foot years ago. PMA, no battery either. It bump starts just fine, which I did so I could test my new LED tail light bulb (worked!) Welded the lever back together. Waiting for it to cool so I can clean it up and see if it will work without breaking again.

    Kickstart Lever near Portland, Oregon?

Hey Portland area folks, I'm doing some prep for riding tomorrow and when i went to test fire my bike, the kick start lever snapped off. Anyone nearby have an extra? Would love to find one tonight or tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Really need to ride tomorrow! I don't recall if these changed...

I went random, but also wanted to miss the major casting spines. This is from last year, shortly after I drilled it.

    WTB Hub Rotor Surface Cover

If I recall correctly from when I had a '72, the rotor did not attach in the same manner, did it?

    WTB Hub Rotor Surface Cover

Thanks 5Twins. Hadn't seen the old version. I used to have a stamped one. That cast piece is perfect. Any suggestion for search terms? Just use part #? You might be able to tell from my post that I don't know what to call it. The Yamaha name "cover, housing" isn't all that helpful.

    WTB Hub Rotor Surface Cover

Hey All, I'm in search of the "hub cap" that covers the rotor mounting surface when only using one brake rotor. I used to have twin discs, but have gone to one and want to clean up the appearance of the hub. Mine is a '75 spoked wheel. I'm sure this covers a wide range of years with 6-bolt...
