Ya I have flowing Mailman's build. So far my surface on the carbs are looking real nice. The thing that messed me up was how MikesXS said no gasket on choke body.

    Mountain Rider's 1972 XS650 Teardown and Rebuild

Ya looks as if I will go the Rustoleum path. I read through 25 pages of the 40+ pages of Mailman's thread for his restro project, I am jealous of the condition his scooter was in when he picked it up much cleaner then mine. Bench grinder with wire wheels does wonders though....

    Mountain Rider's 1972 XS650 Teardown and Rebuild

Looks nice Mailman ! The reason I ask about the Krylon is that it changes the composition of the rust that may be left behind and neutralizes it and then makes ready for the painting. I am just worried about the tight area around the head tube/down tubes that are hard to get at, as I have some...

    Break Leaver ??

yes bottom is smaller then top and the bushing does twist/move when the leaver is pulled. This is why I was thinking that bushing was/is seized. But if it's threaded that changes things..

    Break Leaver ??

I sprayed it with some penetrating lube and will let it sit tonight. Now the bottom side of the assembly where the bolt threads into is smaller, same as the threads on the bolt and look as if the casting for the leaver was taped to accept the bolt, i.e not being able to use a tap on the bottom...

    Break Leaver ??

Hay All, I was wondering what would be the best way to remove this item? I was at the Yamaha Parts Catalog site to try to find out the name for it, but no go.. Shop manual has no name as well. This item on my leaver housing does not want to fall out freely, would it require a punch or...

1976 XS650 restoration and rebuild, advice and help welcomed!

 Wish I read this post before taking my engine out of frame. The lay on side method would have been much easier then the grunting/lifting it out of frame.
