How light can an XS be?

Expecting 330 lbs when done. It is 310 lbs before the pipe and electrics. See it here. http://xs2ss.blogspot.ca/

Thanks Carbon and Smoked, appreciate the comments.

Tim Yep, was thinking the same thought. Might try it with the flange nuts, see what happens.

Sorry, misunderstood. Yes they are nylocks, just temporary. definetly won't use them. I've got 10 mm Dome nuts and regular 10mm flange nuts. I much prefer the look of the flange nuts, but am not sure if oil will weep out of there if I don't use the domes. Got any idea if it will leak?

Thanks Tim. No there just flange nuts, no nylon. I'll put flats and lock washers on there later. Scott.

Love to hear some feedback on what I'm doing. Its hard not to lose perspective on a build when you've been staring at it for 8 months. Love some feedback from you guys on what you think of the new pipe, and the whole build so far. Critics too, always good to see through others eyes...

    16k and still counting!

Yeah valid point. It's not so much money, just surprised that it is where it is. I tend to lie to myself and think things will be less than they really are. I'm over it, thanks.

    16k and still counting!

I bet. I've got an STi here as well, don't race it but getting to be a money pit as well. Love to see some pics of the bike.

Thanks hotdog. New GSXR 750 is 14k, wouldn't trade my XS straight across for that ever. Not to mention the Gixxer couldn't be any less charismatic if it tried. Can't think of any stock bike I'd buy. That's why I'm building the XS. When it's finished and I park it at the curb, I'll bet I...

Thanks Scabber, I am enjoying it. It is also a way to spend some time with the 10 year old boy, doing something other than video games. Hard to put a value on that.

    16k and still counting!

Wow, the consensus seems to be that I'm an idiot! I'm surprised by that. Thanks for the comment on the XS11 Hotdog, might have to do that when this is done. It needs some work as you noted. Not sure it is a great investment, judging from the response here, I won't be selling it anytime...

Yeah, its just like that around here.

Project cost, a little more than expected. Was supposed to be a cheap low cost bike... We're at 16k already, still not done. http://xs2ss.blogspot.ca/2012/09/start-with-one.html Anyone else sink this kind of coin into their XS?

Better to have re-phased and lost than never to have re-phased at all

Yaaaa, raced and thrashed, that's the whole point isn't it???? Certainy didn't throw 10k into this thing to baby it around:)

Better to have re-phased and lost than never to have re-phased at all

The crank is welded so essentially it is a one piece after the re-phase.

Better to have re-phased and lost than never to have re-phased at all

As I mentioned before Falicon did my crank re-phase and dynamic balance. You can see from the pictures of the crank here that a fair bit of material was removed from a few different places. http://xs2ss.blogspot.ca/p/refer.html

    Rephasing, What is it?

Are you going to re-balance it for the new configuration? http://xs2ss.blogspot.ca/p/refer.html

    Rephasing, What is it?

OK. Got any pictures or drawings of your ports?
  20. I

    Rephasing, What is it?

Yeah, mine was cast quite bad. We put a good 3/8" of weld on the one side and an 1/8th or so on the other side of each port to fix the core shift. The port is now significantly smaller. Keep watching the blog, we'll get it on the dynojet when its ready and we'll see if the "Harley mechanic"...
