Chinese Electronics "How Can They Do That"

The Chinese government subsidizes shipping so it's virtually free. Plus the fact that the entire country is basically a slave labor camp.

Scratching my head so bad I'm gonna start bleeding soon Won't stay running

Left hand model because his bike was made by "ahamaY" according to the tank badge. Definitely very rare (although I'm pretty sure it is a "World Market" model, not the "Home Market" model, but it's very easy to confuse the two (then again it's tomorrow is April Fools and that may have something...

    Mikes Ball-type crank bearing

The Shell #1 cam is a good grind for a street bike, good power but not just at high RPM. Gary (Hoos Racing) is a great guy and is super honest. You'll need to send him a cam and the money in exchange for a reground cam. If you ask him, he'll probably sell you the cam with no exchange, but the...

    My 60th birthday present

Try using a draw file motion rather than a cross file motion - it'll be easier to keep everything flat since the file will always be in contact with the material. Just checking, the area you are pointing to is super close to the throttle shaft seal.....

    fuel tank interchangability

I lied, the difference between the early tanks is 3/4". My memory had it grow :) It's still going to be necessary to make a new cross member for the rear mount. Here's a photo of the misalignment.

    Build your own M Unit

I think the M Unit is very interesting because of it's "tunability" and simplicity to wire. Sure it has a manual - it's super easy to wire - the manual is more about programing the different features than installation. It has all the functions of relays built in as well as the "fuses". You...

    fuel tank interchangability

The '72 and '73 tank are longer than the later tanks (I've never had a '71 so I can't say for sure but I'm pretty sure it's the same). I don't have a measurement for the difference but its around two inches. I'll measure it tomorrow if you want.

For Sale - 18" RD400 Rear Wheel for Street Tracker

The RD400 uses a 17mm axle and the XS650 a 20mm. As far as I know the OD of the bearing is the same. Some guys just use the 17mm axle from the RD.

    '81-Build Thread-The Handover

Definitely the right choice. That'll look great for a long time since you prepped it right and used good quality paint.....unlike the twit with the spray bomb.

    camshaft question

Ditch the pods. They're causing the slide to flutter. If they're crap filters they could be covering a vacuum port on the carb too - which will make it way worse. It seems like most guy have better luck with the UNI filters.
