    Carb jetting

Take a look at the carb charts (from earlyer in this thread) and establish what kind of carbs you have first. Just because you have a 75 year bike doesn't mean you have that year of carbs on your bike. Knowing what carbs you have you can find the stock jet sizes, compare with the sizes that you...

    Carb jetting

From what I've read from other members here the UNI's are the way to go. Going off of what I've read, the K&N style Pleated pod filters create turbulence entering the carb that makes them harder to tune and some what temperamental. Something with the air jet not getting a steady flow of...

    Carb jetting

you could be right.. I'm no expert, and i haven't seen a flow bench on it, but that's where you'd see any volume changes from one filter to the next, stock or not. foam vs mesh, density of filter etc. all play a part in how the air flows. correct me if i'm wrong.. i'm just saying from the way...

    Carb jetting

5twins is correct. if you've got pods or anything other than stock exhaust, you need to re-jet your carbs. stock jetting wont cut it. stock jetting is designed to work with stock airbox and stock exhaust, a very restrictive system. any modifications with either will cause back firing and poor...

    Carb jetting

okay, thanks! I'll see if i cant come up with another one some how.. would replacing it with say a stainless or steel washer be okay? or should i stick with brass? one more for you, the needle jet is a snug fit, not threaded, correct? if so, should i tap it out the diaphragm or float side?

    Carb jetting

new bike to me.. question about my BS34's. disassembled the carbs and one of the main jets has a brass washer between the main jet and where it threads into the jet needle and the other didn't.. how important is it to have this washer/spacer or whatever it is?

    Breaking In an Engine?

i went to MMI and one of my instructors used to build custom bikes and rebuild engines.. i asked him this very same question, this is his response to me on a completely new engine brake in; run it for 50 miles not taking it above 3000rpm and drain the oil. with new oil run it for another 75-100...

    Powder coating -VS- mikes wheels

okay, i wont get to carried away with it, maybe 3 holes to a spoke. i'm building this bike for my wife and the last thing i need is for her to end up a skid streak on the pavement! that would make for a rather unpleasant holiday with the in-laws! :shootme: thanks again!

    Powder coating -VS- mikes wheels

i'll be sure to check before buy it. it should be okay though, by buddies cases where aluminum, and it worked great on those. i've seen couple guys on here have drilled holes in the middle of the wheel spokes.. is this something i could easily do myself with some careful measuring and a drill...

    Powder coating -VS- mikes wheels

i wish i knew someone to do the powder coating, but i don't.. i was just thinkin, about half way through your post, Napa sells a metal etching primer in a can. my buddy used it on his sporty cases, worked pretty well. i'm not quite to that point yet, i was just running things through my head on...
