On a side note, what gauge wire is required where? I have a bunch of new 16 gauge cloth covered wire that I planned on using most places but what circuits will need larger gauge and what gauge should I use (battery to starter, battery to fuse block, battery, frame and motor grounds, etc)?
Thanks. So the ground on the starter relay, what should be changed to correct?
When you say the capacitor serves no purpose, is that because I have it wired in wrong or because you don't see the need for it with a properly charging system? My thought was it's a cheap way to make sure I can...
Thanks much! The bike was set up as a kick only on a capacitor but I'm adding the battery to the mix again to make use of the e-start so I figured I'd just leave the cap in as a cheap insurance policy in case something ever goes bad with the battery. Is that crazy? Everyone keeps asking about...
Wiring gurus, can you take a look at my latest schematic and let me know if it looks good or what may be wrong with it? Also, I'm not sure where to tie in the neutral safety switch either. Thanks in advance!
Redundancy is my thinking, two is one and one is none so why not have three?
Okay, so I added in a relay for the lighting, changed the kill switch (will have to find a N.C. version instead of the N.O. one I have) and threw a small battery in the mix (not sure how it should be wired in though)...
The battery and capacitor both have different jobs in the way I'd like to run it. The capacitor for kick starting and the battery to power the lights if and when the bike stalls or dies on the side of the road.
Okay, I'm picking up what you're putting down about the kill switch. The purpose of running a capacitor and a small battery to power lights is I'm not a big fan of having zero lights if and when the motor dies for whatever reason. The battery would be used only to power the head and tail lights...
Thank you Pete, I was hoping you'd chime in! What do you think of running a small battery for lighting along with two capacitors, redundancy being the key here. And run them parallel or in series? What about using a relay with the momentary button switch I have to function as a kill switch (if...
Wiring gurus, I need some help. I worked up this diagram but now I wanna make a couple changes. First off, does anyone see any problems with it as is so far? Second, I want to add in a relay for the headlight but not sure how it gets wired in to the mix. Also, I have a cool momentary push button...
Haha, thanks! I've heard the "steampunk" thing more than a few times now about my bike. That wasn't my intention, although I dig the style and creativity of it, The brass theme started with the old brass petcocks that were already on the tiny tank. Most of the brass is real, the only paint is on...
