I have a 1979 pre-electronic ignition model. My battery now doesn't seem to now be charging anymore. I've checked if the rotor is magnetizing, and its weak, also tested the resistance across the slip rings on the rotor and its down to two ohms. checked the voltage at the battery at 3000 rpm and...

After many hours of testing the connections in the headlamp, I've now tried what you suggested, and you were right, no continuity at the bulb holder. It was a slightly corroded joint in the earth wire from the lamp to the frame. Works perfectly now, many thanks:thumbsup:
