    Turn signal flahser question

OK. I have the stock flasher in place on a 79 650. I have two led signals on the front with 25 watt resistors across them. On the rear I placed short stalk signals with very small bulbs. I now read that this won't work with the stock flasher. Not enough load. The signals lite but won't flash...

Oil leak after replacing clutch push rod seal

I have a 1979 with a leaking seal. If you tilt the bike to the right a little do you need to drain the oil to replace both clutch and front sprocket seals?

    Best Headlight Anyone?

Retiredgentleman, I was wondering if you had any trouble with installing this Sylvania light in place of the stock sealbeam and does it make enough light at night?

    Cam chain tensioner intense......

I tried that, but it still rattled too much being flush. That's why it's just a little long of being flush.

    Cam chain tensioner intense......

A little more on the same subject. Have a 1979 650SF motor and set the cam tensioner up according to the Haynes manual. Tensioner plunger flush with the outer adjuster bolt on a cold engine. Chain rattle was very noticable. Re-adjusted the chain tensioner with the engine hot and the rattle stop...

    Quick question.

I never removed ball bearings or rods. Just pulled the clutch plates and the center to check the order of washers. I never even saw the rod?

    Quick question.

Ok quick clutch question. Pulled the right side cover off and watch my pressure plate, clutch felt fine. I just pulled the clutch apart to check the washers, and put everything back together right... Now I'm pulling the clutch lever and getting absolutely no pressure at all. Just pulls right...

    Very weak spark.

Thanks for the info, but how did you wire them up. And how did you mount them? Do they come with alluminum mount I can just bend up and rig in there somehow?

    Very weak spark.

Are there any differences between symptoms of a bad coil or a bad condenser? I have a feeling I'm going to have to replace one or the other. I see everybody talking about their spark, mine can't even be called spark compared to what I'm reading from other people. Its more like little flashes of...

    Very weak spark.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have a few questions for you. Number one being can I clean the points in place, or do I have to remove them? And if I have to remove them, how do I get them out? And what gap should they be set at? And where is the condenser located? I read above the top motor...

    Very weak spark.

OK fellows I posted a thread on here awhile ago about a 1979 XS650 pouring gas out the one carb. The general consensus was to re-build the carbs. OK did that. Also split the fuel lines and am running one fuel line from one petcock with 1/4" I.D. line. New problem. The bike won't start. Spray...

    Carbs spewing gas

Too all of you that posted a reply to my question, I thank you. They provided fuel for thought. The carbs are off, doing a clean and rebuild, then I'll see what happens. Floats weren't taking on gas and were still on factory setting plus or minus. Float needles look good along with the holder...

    Carbs spewing gas

Never had the bowls off of these. Easier to do off the bike or can be done in place with care?

    Carbs spewing gas

Inherited a 1979 XS650 Bobber build which is in progress. It has a Harley peanut tank on it with all the vacuum hoses blocked. No gas/carb problems with the old air box attached but when it was removed and cones were installed first the left carb started spewing gas then the right. I have...
