Vermont title is the real deal

I did this for my XS. The details are here: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/how-to-get-proof-of-ownership-for-a-bike-w-no-title.655441/ Basically, you fill out their registration form (here), get the VIN verified by an official in your area (Vermont wants official letterhead, but what...

ticky noise at reassembly, and hallow kicks

Yep. I started with the clutch lever just because it's easier to get to and the freeplay is easier to check, and lucked out that that was the problem.

ticky noise at reassembly, and hallow kicks

I was having the same problem with kicking my bike over. Adjusted the clutch lever and now it kicks over every time. (Check the clutch boss too if you aren't sure/haven't messed with it).

    No spark after replacing everything

One thought: While testing for voltage (testing for a complete circuit from the battery to the various connectors on the PAMCO) I found that I was getting a complete circuit from the battery positive terminal to the coil mounts (the stock mounting spot) and from the battery positive terminal to...

    No spark after replacing everything

So I've been rebuilding a 1980 XS650 from the ground up (it was a junkyard bike) and I've reached a dead end with the ignition system. A few weeks ago, I posted a thread Here where Pamcopete was very helpful in getting me to go through all the tests and eventually decided to send me a new...

Pamco/E-Advance no spark - continuity issues?

Ah, that was a typo. It should be "Resistance between plug wires". I went back and edited it in my original post, but my measurement between plug wire and terminal was open, and my measurement between plug wires was 15 on the 2000k scale (which I believe would be 15000 ohm but I wasn't positive).

Pamco/E-Advance no spark - continuity issues?

Pete, I decided to go back and just get all the measurements again and put them all here, as well as any details about what the system entails. So the PAMCO is currently on it's own separate circuit with it's own battery, which is a 12V 1.3Ah AGM sealed battery. There is a 12V 25A kill switch...

Pamco/E-Advance no spark - continuity issues?

should all the cool tests be done with the wires removed? If so, I had an open reading on the primary terminal to center core and open circuit on plug wire to center core.

Pamco/E-Advance no spark - continuity issues?

On Mikes Coil 17-6822, where is the center core exactly? On the other parts: 1. 4.2 Ohms 2. 3. Infinite 4. 5. With it set on 200k, I had a reading of 15. With the spark plug caps, it was 25.

Pamco/E-Advance no spark - continuity issues?

Any ideas on the weird readings I'm getting on the green wire or not getting spark? Like I said, I'm really new on any electrical stuff so I'm trying to account for any user error on this. Also thank you Pete for answering my questions. I'm sure you get hammered with them, so I do appreciate...

Pamco/E-Advance no spark - continuity issues?

I haven't gotten it to work at all. I haven't gotten any spark. That's when I went through testing the coil to make sure it was good (full disclosure: I didn't test the ones where you mentioned the center core of the coil because I honestly wasn't sure where that was on the coil). The other...

Pamco/E-Advance no spark - continuity issues?

I've been working on rebuilding an XS and I've come up with no spark. I started going through the PAMCO system as per Pete's instructions on here and when I got to testing the green wire's voltage when spinning the rotor, I found that the voltage was remarkably low (3v, compared to the...

Building a motor from the ground up... is it worth it?

If you're dead set on rebuilding a motor, and I'm not saying you shouldn't, it would probably be more economical to go to a cycle junkyard and buy as complete a bike as you can find rather than going completely piecemeal. When I bought my project bike, it had most of the engine (sans left side...

    ebay assholes

Wait, he's trying to back out of an AUCTION? I've bought stuff on Buy It Now before that was set too low, and sometimes the seller will try to back out, but if it's an auction, you know what you're getting yourself into. If he's saying he got the wrong size, like 1" instead of 7/8, I'd tell him...

Rebuilding Yamaha Vacuum Operated Fuel Valves (Petcocks.)

Yeah, that would be the problem it looks like. I do have the dual vacuum petcock tank.

Rebuilding Yamaha Vacuum Operated Fuel Valves (Petcocks.)

Which model/year are you looking at, just for reference? The ones I checked has part 21 as a screw. The Filter, as far as I can find (NET, FILTER 1 2G2-24514-00-00) are discontinued.

Yeah, the ones that fit into them that go inside the tank.

Rebuilding Yamaha Vacuum Operated Fuel Valves (Petcocks.)

Does anyone know where to get just the filters for these petcocks? I bought some without the filters and thought that it would be a pretty easy part to replace but I've yet to really come across any new aftermarket ones. There are some used ones on ebay for about how much a set of petcocks...
