OK, idle screw is fine. I can't find anything wrong with the advance unit. Does anyone know how to test the PMA for proper output? Or how to test the regulator?

TwoMany- ill double check the idle screw but I'm honestly not sure if I could even get the kind of RPMs I got w the idle screw. It was wide open. Weird Also, the bike had been running for about a month without anything close to a high idle issue. I was night and day from normal.

TwoMany - the bike ran at such a high RPM I wouldn't run it like that even long enough to check timing. I was SCREAMING. I'll check the advance mechanism tonight to see if something is up.

Also carbs are freshly cleaned and compression is good.

Timing is good, I can check cam chain tension again but would a loose cam chain cause the issues im seeing? Not trying to second guess you TW just trying to understand the methods behind the suggestions

Thanks man, that's kind of what I was planning on doing. I have to go to the local college parking lot to tune since my neighbors keep calling the cops on me for noise. Was hoping I could go alone and not have to depend on another car or piece of gear.

Will a PMA with a sparx capacitor run a timing light or will I need an external power source?

I couldn't see any hang ups anywhere with the floats, everything was really clean. I probably could have just tapped on the bowls with something. Well at least I learned more about my carbs through this. Thanks for all your help guys. I do appreciate it.

So after work I checked out the float levels and the valve needle and seat. Couldn't find anything wrong but blew them out with compressed air anyway and put the carbs back together. Bike seems to run fine now. Is it possible running out of gas caused the floats to stick?

This makes my pants happy...

Is there anything I need to do during reassembly to avoid them getting stuck? Is there something that can happen when the bike warms up to cause this? I had gas in the bike when I left or at least what I thought was plenty to get the distance I was going. Just not sure why I didnt have gas...

Im sure whatever is going on is the result of not having a fuel filter. I did install one and tore the carbs apart last night and found a bit of debris in the main jet of the carb that had the gas being pulled up by the needle. Is that possibly a cause of the issue? Wouldn't think so.

I pulled them off tonight and cleaned them. Just wasn't sure what was normal and what to look for. I'll reinstall them tomorrow and see what I get.
